Dragon boat racing is a unique and unusual way of motivating and integrating staff from all departments of a company. Based on an ancient Chinese tradition some 2000 years ago, Dragon Boat racing has become one of the fastest growing corporate sports in Britain.
A Dragon Boat is a thirty or forty foot canoe-like vessel with an ornately carved dragon's head and tail. Someone steers to keep the boat on course, a drummer beats time and the rest of the crew (11 people in 30' boats or 19 people in 40' boats) vigorously paddle the boat...hopefully to victory!
Part of the appeal of Dragon Boat Racing is its ability to get everyone working together in a very short space of time. It gives a lasting sense of both team and individual achievement and is particularly good for large groups.
