Overview:
What goes up must come down and you can test your skills, balance and nerve with these two exhilarating activities. If you combine the flexibility of Spiderman with the bravery of an SAS soldier, a climbing and abseiling session at Avon Gorge will give you a chance to fulfill your adventurous urges.

The Gorge and provides an excellent location for these physically and mentally challenging activities. You'll be kitted out in all of the appropriate safety equipment and will get a detailed safety briefing from the instructors who'll give you the lowdown on the best ways to avoid cracking your head open on a massive rock. No previous experience is required and the activities are suitable for all fitness levels.

Firstly, your group will head to the cliffs and will scale a craggy rock face guided by an instructor who'll be holding the safety line. There are plenty of crevices for you to cling onto as climb so you won't need the agility of a cat to make your way to the summit.

Once you've reached the top, there's only one way down- abseil. If you've got no head for heights you'll have to show plenty of courage as you bounce down the cliff face attached only to a rope. Our top tips- concentrate on where you're putting your feet, don't look down and don't let go!
