Paddles to the ready!
These two man canoes are completely open topped similar to the ones used by Indians or Canadian Trappers. You and a partner will need to get coordinated in order to steer and paddle effectively. If your compadre fancies himself as a bit of a joker, you'll be at his mercy as a few well timed rocks could send you tumbling into the wet.

You'll skim along a calm lake with stops at a few small islands where you can have a quick dip if you fancy it. You'll participate in some fun games too so you'll definitely get the chance to soak your pals and receive a soaking!

Duration:

Overview:
Get high in the forest with a thrilling high ropes session. Set deep in the Moor Valley this is a brilliant setting for you to face your fears and swing through the trees like Tarzan.

After being kitted out in all of the essential equipment and a full safety briefing from the instructors, it'll be time to head for the trees. You'll tackle a course of over 30 hanging rope bridges, scramble nets and zip slides which are up to 30ft off the forest floor. You can also have a go on one of the few tree zip lines in the country.

If you are a bit nervous about heights our advice is simple; clear your mind and focus on what is in front of you. Whatever you do don't think about slipping over and you falling head first to your death*.

*This won't happen as you'll be attached by a safety harness at all times so at worst you'll swing in the air for a few seconds before being pulled to safety. Mong.

 

Overview:
It's very hard to beat a good day at the races and if you win, it's even better.

The atmosphere at a race track is always amazing whether you're dressed in your Sunday best in the members' enclosure sipping bubbly or staying casual and snacking on hotdogs all day.

Those that think they know a thing or two can study the form and chew their pencils whilst the others can pick on the funniest name or the best coloured silks. Horse racing covers all the bases and has something for everyone.

Survival Skills Adventure Day:
Have you watched Ray Mears survive in the wilderness and think that you could give Mearsy a run for his money? Well, with this Lake District survival skills adventure day, you'll certainly find out whether you've got what it takes to challenge rugged Ray.

You'll head to the Bracken Bank Lodge estate where you'll be given a crash course in survival in the wild under the guidance of a man who's so at one with nature he's built himself a luxury house out of twigs and wears a suit made of grass.

If you ever find yourself stranded in the middle of the forest you'll be thanking your lucky stars you've done this adventure day as you'll be taught a plethora of ultra-useful skills including shelter building, friction fire lighting, edible plant gathering, cookery, nettle rope making, coracle raft building and sailing- basically everything you'd need to survive in a hostile environment.

What to wear:
Long trousers, t-shirt/sweatshirt, strong shoes, gloves- nothing you don't want to get dirty

Hotshot Shooting:
Going shooting on a stag weekend is actually a tradition which dates back to the Middle Ages. Then it was customary for a man to shoot a stag and present it to his father-in-law-to-be in exchange for his daughter. However, times change and you won't be killing any animals, but you will get to try your hand at clay pigeon shooting, rifle shooting, archery and cross bow shooting. Bang bang.

Your group will head to the Lake District's most famous shooting estate where you'll be given an introduction to all of the weapons by an experienced instructor. You'll have a go at each of the activities in turn, so if you fancy yourself as a sniper or the next Robin Hood you'll get plenty of opportunity to test your mettle over the 4 events, firing at a variety of challenging targets.

There's nothing like a bit of banter to spice up proceedings so make sure you give your mates plenty of abuse if they're rubbish! The best marksman takes home an engraved trophy, so expect competition to be fierce. Worst shot should get a huge round of beers in to apologise for being an embarrassment to the rest of the group.

Overview:
Get ready for a full day of fun-fuelled activities that'll squeeze the most out of your daylight hours. With the choice of 2 activities, one in a 3 hour morning slot and one in a 3 hour afternoon slot, your day will be filled to the brim with action and adventure.

Choose any 2 activities:

Raft Building:
Get your survival instincts to kick in as you are set the task of constructing and racing your very own raft. Teams will compete against each other as they test the buoyancy of their water vessels and have their race efforts timed. Will you sink or swim? There's only one way to find out!

Canyoning:
Canyoning is a high-adrenaline activity that'll satisfy your thirst for adventure. Scrambling and climbing through a rocky river, you'll be fearlessly sliding and jumping into plunge pools in a river gorge. Jumping from cliff edges and abseiling down waterfalls should see your adrenaline glands well and truly knackered. Awesome.

Canoeing:

During the day you will play lots of games and learn a number of different paddle strokes used in the sport.

Kayaking:
The Eskimo's preferred means of water travel, these single person, closed in, kayaks are great fun. Learn to paddle and steer before engaging in a wet water based competition against your friends. These thing have a mind of their own and remaining upright may not be a luxury which you can afford to count on!

Gorge Scrambling:
A top activity for the adventurous who are excited by the thought of clambering over rocks, climbing through wet crevices and jumping into plunge pools. You'll need to have a basic level of fitness but the guide will look after you and tailor the activity to match the capabilities of the group.

Abseiling:
Take your pick from low, tame crags up to high-adrenaline cliff faces and get yourself strapped in. Once shown the best descending techniques, you'll be left to bounce off the rockface, lowering yourself jubilantly to the ground below. Vertigo suffers sling your hook, those with a sense of adventure get involved!

Climbing:
These rockfaces offer a great challenge. After getting some hot tips on climbing techniques and having a practice at low level, participants pair up within the teams with a climber and a "belayer". The climber scales the wall to get maximum points for height achieved while trusting the belayer to keep them on that rope. 

Clay pigeon Shooting:
Ever fancied getting your hands on a shotgun, setting your sights down the shiny double-barrel and scratching that itchy trigger finger of yours? Yes? We thought so! What better way to satisfy the urge than blasting a clay pigeon to smithereens, catching a victorious waft of the smoking barrels and reloading to unleash more destruction on yet another unsuspecting ceramic projectile. Qualified instructors will help you maximise the carnage inflicted on your clays

Archery:
Pick up a bow and arrow, take aim and shoot 2 foot wide of the target to the heckling jeers of your mates. With steady handedness a prerequisite, those who've had a heavy one the night before will be pulling their arrows from the dirt.

Mountain Biking:
A very popular activity for anyone who can already ride a bike and has a reasonable level of fitness. The ride will be over rough terrain with some very fast sections of downhill biking and some very slow technical downhill sections demanding your every care and attention. The rides will be tailored to meet the needs of the group accordingly.

- Full body wetsuit, life vest and crash helmet for all water based activities
- Qualified Instructors for all activities

Duration:
- Full day
- 3 hour activity in the morning and a 3 hour activity in the afternoon

A top activity for the adventurous who have harbored a fascination for clambering over rocks, climbing through wet crevices and jumping into plunge pools ever since they watched 'The Goonies' all those years ago. You'll need to have a basic level of fitness but the guide will look after you and tailor the activity to match the capabilities of the group, especially if some of the guys have beer bellies that have seen a 'truffle shuffle' or two.

- Full day (includes 2 x 3 hour activity sessions and a packed lunch)

- The gorges used are in a variety of locations around Lancashire, Cumbria (The Lake District) and Wales.

Overview:
Swim, climb, jump and explore the coastline as you've never experienced it before. All sessions can be tailored to suit all abilities and excitement needs, so rest assured that you're in for a cracking time! Blowholes, caves and curious sea creatures are only some of the fantastic features that you will encounter on your coasteering route. Personal equipment (wetsuit, buoyancy aid and helmet) is provided and all instructors carry safety, rescue and first aid equipment. Each session will start with a brief that will cover safety aspects, before heading out with your experienced instructor.

Will you end up clinging to the rocks for dear life and refusing to jump? Are you brave enough for the coasteering challenge? Well, there's only one way to find out!

Jump!
For those of you who fancy something a bit more strenuous and rewarding than the average stag-do fare, take to the countryside and try your hands at the extreme sport of gorge walking.

Don't be fooled by the name, your 'walk' will certainly not be a gentle stroll! You'll be climbing, scrambling, swimming in rockpools and jumping into plungepools. You do need a basic level of fitness but the guides will look after you and tailor the walk to match the capabilities of the group

Overview:
With over 300 acres of lake district countryside to explore, this is quad trekking at its finest.

At many sites you will be provided with 125cc Breeze quad bikes. Here you will use top of the range 400cc Kawasakis so you can really get your teeth into the varied terrain. After a quick briefing you will set off on a 6km trek across the fens and woodlands of the site.

Steep inclines, dips and tricky terrain are combined with flat fields where you can reach a fair rate of knots. At the furthest point of the trek there is a specially designed technical skills course incorporating side slopes, steep descents, drops, slaloms, a log pole and a see-saw where you can hone the skills that you have been picking up on the first part of the trek. All equipment and overalls are provided.

Overview:
The Instructors take pride in introducing novices to this exciting sport, with the aim of making you a top marksman by the end of the session (well able to hit the thing anyway).

You will start with basic clay shooting to gain confidence and improve your technique, then progress to a competition on three different stands where the traps are varied, some throwing clays towards you, some away and some across.

Licences are not needed, just wear suitable clothing for the time of year, and flat shoes please.

Included:
- 25 Clays
- An instructor
- Gun hire

Note:
- There is no pain when using the proper equipment and there are special guns and cartridges to suit all statures.
- You can increase the package to a 50 clay shoot on request for an additional cost

Only real men need apply:
This survival course is one of the toughest and most challenging survival courses on offer in the UK. The course will cover how to make your own ropes and how to build your own shelter using those ropes. You'll also create fire from scratch - no lighters or
matches - just good old wood-on-wood friction. You'll also learn which fruits and berries you can eat without keeling over.

You'll learn how to trap and hunt animals for food and how to skin and gut the critters as well as improvised fishing techniques. Cooking without pots and pans and much much more is included in this awesome day of survival techniques.

- Full day (includes 2 x 3 hour activity sessions and a packed lunch)

- This course is for people who are reasonably fit and with lots of stamina.
- The instructors are experts in survival and many of the techniques used for this course are as advised by the SAS
