Getting Around:
Being a seaside resort town laden with tourists, much of
Swansea’s attractions and population resides at the waterfront. Walking and cycling are great ways to get your Stag Part around. Taxi services can also be hired and the bus service is a cheaper option for no frills transportation.
Must See/Must Do:
• Mumbles - Famed Victorian resort situated at the end of
Swansea Bay that is also known as the “Gateway to the Gower Region.” Some of the best restaurants in Wales are here and it has renowned ice cream shops as well. The beaches of Bracelet Bay and Limeslade Bay are here as is Oystermouth Castle.
• Maritime Quarter - Swansea’s past meshes with its present in this unique area. Part of the South Dock that was constructed in 1859 has been refurbished here. Many yachts, restaurants and homes dot the landscape. The National Waterfront Museum and LC Leisure Complex & Waterpark are located here.
• Gower Peninsula - The adventurous stag do in Swansea will not want to miss this Wales jewel. Known far and wide for its beaches and some of the best surfing in Europe, The Gower Peninsula is also the place to take on other extreme activities like rock climbing and hang gliding.
• LC Swansea - Waterpark with lots of activities including a 30 foot climbing wall, fitness center and spa. The Edge zone is Wales’ biggest indoor water park and includes a standing surfing simulator. Refuel the
stag party at the leisure centers’ cafes and poolside bistro.
History:
Swansea’s history runs with the sea. For most of its history, Swansea was a bustling fishing village. Today Swansea’s economy is tourism-based as residents income is mostly derived in one way or another from the area’s breathtaking landscape. Like many British locales, Swansea was bombed extensively during World War II and still shows some of those scars, although extensive redevelopment has taken place.
Nightlife:
There will be no shortage of after-dark entertainment choices for your
stag party in Swansea. For all the activity in and around Swansea during the day, the populace doesn’t seem to slow a bit once the sun goes down. Neighborhood bars and pubs abound and are a great place to mix-in with the locals who definitely know how to have a good time. Popular dance clubs include Mozart’s that stays open late along with Idols and the Monkey Bar Cafe.
Eating:
Swansea has a wide variety of restaurants for the choosing but, as with most seaside resort towns, seafood rules the day. Gallini’s is a great choice for a stag do dinner out. The restaurant has excellent views of the marina from the outdoor patio. Fresh seafood and authentic Italian dishes make for a culinary explosion.
