Prague is well known as a top Eastern European destination for stag dos. This Czech Republic capital is modern with plenty of old world charm, appealing to tourists worldwide. Prague Castle can be easily seen towering over the city. So whether your idea of a good time is the hottest nightclubs, fascinating architecture or the coolest adventure activities – you’ll find it all available in Prague. Choose Prague for that fun, you’ll-never-forget-it stag weekend.
In a Nutshell:
- Prague is in the heart of Europe – 600 km from the Baltic Sea and more than 700 km from the Northern Sea and Adriatic Seas.
- Sightseeing in Prague? Don’t miss the Old Town Square, Charles Bridge and other great and ancient buildings throughout Prague.
- While the official language is Czech, you’ll soon find that English is spoken everywhere and easily understood.
- 1.21 million people call Prague home.
- The Prague Castle is one of the most popular sightseeing spots in Prague. We can see why: it’s an enormous, ancient castle – actually the largest in the world. So how big is it really? Try 570m long, 128m wide and 7.28 hectares in area.
Out on the Town:
Prague is your ideal choice for that memorable stag night. It’s jam packed with local and international party guests. Expect a nearly electric vibe in the nightclubs, pubs, pools and spas. Prague has got it all and they do it with a five-star, pedal-to-the-metal-attitude. If you love beer, be sure to try the Czech beer as it is easy on the pocket and totally amazing. Popular local brews include Staropramen, Gambrinus, Budweiser (Budvar) and Pilsner Urquell. Many visitors in Prague like to go to the Old Town area which is chock filled with clubs, bars and cool pubs – so you’re always ready to party down.
Daytime Activities:
Outdoor activities are a favorite in Prague during your stag weekend. Get the blood pumping with karting, clay pigeon shooting, rafting, quad biking or paintball – you might not want to go home! The Czech outdoors are simply one of a kind and an amazing experience to have in the Czech Republic. It’s just about a must to add to your stag night fun.
Weather:
Winters are known for being snow filled and (okay) a little bleak, so a good time to enjoy that great Czech beer and the nightclubs. May through September you can look for daily temperatures in the mid 20 degrees C.
Currency:
The Czech Crown (Kc/CZK) is the national currency. £1 = 43CZK (approx.).
Transport:
stag night buddies in Prague are in luck – as you’ll find that Prague has an excellent (and cheap!) public transportation system. Complete with both buses and trams you can get everywhere you want to go so easily. Visitors to Prague are warned to keep a lookout for pickpockets on public transportation. Chillisauce suggests the trams as the easiest way to travel around the city centre – but this area can be easily travelled on foot.
Say “no thanks” to the taxis and save your CZKs for more great beer. The taxis have a rep for ripping off tourists – so why be one? If you do need a cab, phone a taxi company (try asking at the hotel for a reputable one) instead of hailing one from the street. Your taxi meter should start at 25Kc and 20Kc per kilometer following. We’ll give you this example: from central Prague, a ride to the airport can cost about 400Kc’s. A quick ride in the city centre will be around 130Kc’s. If you head out to a surrounding district, expect to see a price of about 200Kc’s.
