Some of the most popular local brands include Staropramen, Pilsner Urquell, Gambrinus, and Budweiser (Budvar). Visitors to the city usually head to the Old Town area which offers more pubs, clubs and bars than you can shake a pickled cabbage at.

Between May and September Prague has average daily highs in the mid 20°Cs. Rainfall is fairly regular throughout the year and the snowy winters can be quite bleak.

The national currency is the Czech Crown (Kc / CZK). £1 = 43CZK (approx.).
Transport:
Prague has a well serviced and reasonably cheap public transport network of buses and trams. Visitors to the city are warned that pickpockets abound on public transport, so keep your money somewhere safe. Trams are the easiest way to travel around the city centre, however the area is easily travelled on foot. Taxi drivers in Prague are notorious for ripping off tourists. Your best bet is to phone a reputable taxi company to order a taxi as hailing one off the street can be a risky proposition. The starting rate should be about 25Kc, and 20Kc per kilometre after that. From central Prague, a ride to the airport should cost no more than 400Kc; a short ride in the city centre should be about 130Kc, a ride to one of the surrounding districts up to 200Kc.
