Overview:
The Oxford English Dictionary defines Zorbing as: ' a sport in which a participant is secured inside an inner capsule in a large, transparent ball which is then rolled along the ground or down hills'
As long as you agree that getting strapped inside a big sphere with a cushion of air between you and the ground and thrown down a hill reaching speeds of up to 50/60 kmph is a sport, then it is pretty much spot on. Whilst we don't expect this to make an appearance at the 2012 Olympics, we can't recommend it enough.
This is the best way to experience how a hung-over hamster accidentally strapped into its ball and inadvertently booted down a hill at your local park would feel. The only difference is that rather than emerging petrified and harboring gnawing disdain for your tormenter, you'll be giggling and stumbling like a dizzy school kid, scrambling back up the hill for another go.
Ever wondered what it feels like to be a sock? Well, probably not, but that doesn't mean you won't enjoy the washing machine run. Fill the sphere with water before you roll and get a soaking for your troubles. Excellent.
Fast, exhilarating and incomparably unique, the year of the sphere is here.
