History:
Billed as one of England’s most complete medieval city’s, Norwich has history to spare. The Romans had their regional capital about five miles south of Norwich, but the city fell into disuse around 450 A.D. and Anglo-Saxons settled the area sometime after that. The Vikings and Normans also made their impacts on the city’s development. Norwich was the site of heavy bombing during World War II that several damaged the city’s infrastructure and Victorian homes. The city also has a long-standing brewing tradition. The last of the major brewers - the Norwich Brewery - closed its doors in 1985; however, many small-scale operations are continuing the tradition.
