Description:
Canyoning involves travelling down rivers or streams within a canyon by a variety of means including walking, floating, scrambling, climbing, abseiling and swimming.
It requires balance, nerves and skill as you try to surpass the canyons natural gorges, slides, pools and waterfalls. This is a level 1 canyon, meaning anyone can have a go, as it's unlikely you've done it before.
Format:
Transfers to the top of the canyon (this is usually the case but it has been known to start at the bottom). The group are kitted out with equipment and the activity begins. Depending on the level, the group will abseil, swim and have to climb to get to the end of the route. Beautiful unspoilt scenery can be found on all routes. Some walking is required therefore the group must show some level of fitness and be able to swim.
Availability:
All year. 10am until 3pm (winter is better) This activity is usually a morning activity.
Requirements:
An old pair of trainers with rubber soles, a change of footwear, swimwear and a change of top.
Prior to the activity we will require everyone's passport number (for insurance purposes) height and weight.
Included:
- Canyoning activity. The activity itself lasts approximately 3 to 5 hrs depending on the group size
- Accident insurance provided by qualified suppliers.
- A coordinator to ensure everything runs smoothly.
Note
We do not usually recommend this activity in the summer months (June, July, August) due to the lack of fast flowing water in the canyon.
