Lithuania’s often described as being rebellious – which is fairly accurate seeing as it took on the iron fist of the Soviet Union to try and gain independence. Which it did. Independent for about ten years now, Lithuania is a small but quirky and vibrant country, with possibly one of the smallest capital cities in the world – Vilnius looks no bigger than your average town, but that’s where most of its charm tends to come in – the city is littered with little architectural delights, quaint courtyards – plus, with a very eccentric artistic community, the trip’s sure to be a visual delight. Vilnius is definitely an odd capital – featuring the only statue of Frank Zappa – how’s that for kooky?
