Overview:
No visit to Scotland is complete without a visit to a working Scotch Malt Whisky Distillery. A visit to the home of The Edinburgh Malt involves a short and pleasant drive from the Edinburgh city centre into the rolling farmland of East Lothian. Here you can see a working distillery, the making of a capital malt in every respect. An exhibition of malt whisky is housed in the listed red brick building which was formerly the floor maltings. At the bar a taste of the supurbe Single Malt will be waiting for you to sample.
Tour:
Your group will take a tour of this historicc distillery (including a fascinating exhibition on Malt Whisky through the ages) before being taken to a tasting room where the fun and games will begin!
The visitor centre also houses the Museum of Malt Whisky which among many other things exhibits a model of a malt distillery that was made for the impressive British Empire Exhibition of 1924-25. A must-see! Two fat old copper pot stills are also a distinctive feature, among the largest in the industry and together producing 1.3 million litres annually.
