It's very hard to beat a good day at the races and if you win, it's even better.
The atmosphere at a race track is always amazing whether you're dressed in your Sunday best in the members' enclosure sipping bubbly or staying casual and snacking on hotdogs all day.
Those that think they know a thing or two can study the form and chew their pencils whilst the others can pick on the funniest name or the best coloured silks. Horse racing covers all the bases and has something for everyone.
- Ticket entry to the races
Overview:If your only experience of Archers is limited to listening to Radio 4 on a Sunday morning, fill your quiver full of arrows and try your hand at Robin Hood's favourite sport. You'll be armed with a longbow and under the watchful eye of a qualified instructor you'll be taught all of the tricks of the trade. If you've got good hand-eye coordination and a keen eye you'll hopefully be able to nail a few bullseyes. If however you're lacking in both departments, just make sure there's nobody within 50ft of the target!Always a great event to get the competitive juices flowing, a bit of friendly sledging always goes down a treat, especially if there's money riding on who'll the ace archer will be.
Notes:- Depending on weather, this can be held either indoors or outdoors.- Hot food available on site but must be pre-ordered. Please ask for details, extra cost applies.
Overview:Get armed and dangerous with a 12 bore shot gun at one of the top clay shooting grounds in the south west. Going shooting before your wedding day is a tradition dating back to Henry VIII, who enjoyed slaughtering harmless animals for sport before tying the knot.A professional instructor will take you under his wing and pass on top tips which will hopefully turn you from a novice to a hot shot in no time. After familiarising yourself with the gun and having a few practice shots you'll go head to head against your friends shooting at clays which simulate the movements of different animals including diving ducks, bounding rabbits and cross flying pigeons.
A bit of friendly banter always goes down a treat and whilst the best marksman gets the bragging rights, the worst shot should have to get an extra large round of drinks in as a punishment for being so rubbish.
Included:25 clays (50 clay shoots are available)Notes:- Hot food available on site but must be pre-ordered. Small extra cost applies.
Overview:Surrounded by natural beauty and in an exclusive country estate steeped in Devonshire history, it is difficult to imagine being only five miles from Plymouth city centre, airport and railway station. There is extensive parking at the shooting ground, which is easily accessed by car from all the major roads and motorways in the Southwest. An all time favorite and guaranteed to produce some hearty, tension-filled competition. Guns are selected to suit all statures and professional instruction provided with the aim of ensuring that even the most novice marksman is hitting at least every second target by the end of the day.
Different traps allow the target ‘birds' to be released in various flight patterns - across you, along the ground, away and up or straight down the barrel. Following a practice to get used to techniques like tracking the clay and firing in front of it, hold your nerve in the competition and make the clutch shots.
Included: - Bacon Roll on Arrival- Refreshments- Use of Guns- 30 Clays and Cartridges- Instructor- Event ManagementDuration: 1 - 2 hoursNote:- Food & drink can be bought on site although those who prefer a hot meal may need to let us know in advance as they are not always possible during peak times.
Overview:Ever fancied getting your hands on a shotgun, setting your sights down the shiny double barrel and scratching that itchy trigger finger of yours? Yes? We thought so! What better way to satisfy the urge than blasting a clay pigeon to smithereens, catching a victorious waft of the smoking barrels and reloading to unleash more destruction on yet another unsuspecting ceramic projectile.
Experienced instructors will demonstrate to your group how to use a shotgun safely and accurately. The clay pigeon traps are positioned to accomodate all levels of experience and simulate a variety of specific games.
This is a great opportunity to enjoy the country air and smoke a few clays. By the end of the session hopefully you should be nailing the clays more often than not... You'll have a blast!
Notes:- 30-40 clays included- Minimum group size: 10
