The county of Cumbria is one of the most beautiful areas of Britain. To the north on the other side of Hadrian’s Wall lies Scotland, to the West the Irish Sea, and in the East beyond the beautiful Eden Valley, are the Pennines and the Yorkshire Dales. Cumbria has a wealth of historic towns and villages to explore including Carlisle, the county town and one of ancient Rome’s most far-flung outposts; Kendal - home to the famous Kendal Mint Cake; and Kirkby Stephen in the Eden valley, where about a thousand years ago the Danes built a shrine to the ancient Norse god Lokiin.
But the heart of Cumbria is the Lake District National Park - the first (and at 800 square miles) the largest national park in England. The Lake District was popularised by 19th Century landscape painters and Romantic poets like William Wordsworth who pictured himself wandering through it “lonely as a cloud”, looking down on an ancient and craggy landscape studded with jewel-like lakes.
Any town centre can be used as your base if you would like to take part in a treasure hunt, Spy Mission or take part in spy-themed team building activities.
If you would prefer an adrenaline-fuelled multiactivity day, head to the countryside where you can combine motorised activities (such as blindfold driving, 4x4 driving and quad bikes), field sports (such as clay shooting, archery and laser clays) and classic and original teambuilding challenges.
