Golf - Blackpool

Golf

With lake shots and long fairways, this 9 hole course challenges all abilities. Situated in 80 acres of scenic countryside on the edge of the Bowland Forest, the fairways are wide and open and have views ranging from the hills of Clougha out onto Morecambe Bay Estuary. The majority of the holes are designed with alternative tees, allowing different approach angles to the greens, which also have two flag positions - yellow for the first nine and red for the second. This gives the course a total yardage of 6,172 and makes it a par 72.

Interesting features of the course include the ‘Hole 3 Stepping Stones’: Normally a golfer who plays a shot in the centre of the fairway would not expect to encounter a substantial hazard. The ‘Stepping Stones’ contravenes this precedent because of the row of trees along the River Conder which cut across the fairway. This makes the hole technically more demanding and contributes to it being a par 5.

The course has a ‘smart’ dress code; although there are no rules when it comes to trash talking your mates when you’re out on the course!

Duration:
9 holes: approximately 2 hours.
18 holes: approximately 4 hours.
