Quick Overview:
Barcelona is Spain’s second largest city and the capital of Catalonia. The city, of nearly 2 million inhabitants, is located on the northeastern Mediterranean coast and has a deep history that dates back more than 2,000 years to Roman times when it first came to prominence as Barcino – the city’s old name. Barcelona has long been a tourist destination because it embodies what European cities are famous for – outdoor markets, exquisite restaurants, shops, museums and historic churches. Barcelona gained an added push of fame in 1992 when the city hosted the Olympic Games. Changes undertaken to get ready for that event have forever changed the city’s appearance as old neighborhoods were revitalized and modern designs incorporated into city architecture. Barcelona also has one of Spain’s most sought-after club scenes, so there is no doubt the city’s nightlife is well-suited for a stag party weekend.
