Overview:
Bangkok has been described as the 'Venice of the East' due to its bustling canal network. The canals, or 'klongs' as they known locally criss-cross the old city and are home to the famous floating markets.
The canals are teeming with life as many Thais still live along the waterways and travel along them daily to reach the markets and temples. The lifestyle of many of the locals has barely changed in the last 200 years and the klong tour has been described by travellers as 'like going back in time', although if you come from rural Norfolk this place will probably seem quite futuristic.
Your group will travel in tuk tuks from your hotel into western Bangkok, around 30 mins drive away. You will then join the canal network on board river ferries and wooden 'long tail' boats so you can soak up the atmosphere and experience the sights, sounds and smells of the floating markets
When you've done the sightseeing it'll be white knuckle time. You'll jump into pacey speed boats and tear through the canals like a boozy James Bond, no doubt giving several elderly locals heart attacks in the process.
