The Site:
Within the grounds of this park there are over 100 acres to drive in, making it the ideal place to get the most from your off road driving experience. As well as the 4x4 activities, you are free to enjoy the safari park itself and see if you can spot the baboon that looks just like the mother-in-law. There is also a fairground and restaurant on site.
The Activities:
The session, which lasts 2½ - 3 hours, includes blind & deaf driving, winching, self-drive and wow! time. Your group will be divided into teams of 3 to a vehicle.
Blind & Deaf Driving: After being divided into your teams, you will nominate one member to drive. Their task will be to negotiate a specially designed off road course with nothing to guide them except their team members. The twist is that the team members are not allowed to talk, so an elaborate system of slaps to the head has to be negotiated to enable them to complete the course in a faster time than rival teams.
Winching:
Your team is faced with extricating one vehicle from a trough filled with water. You’ll be provided with a Landrover, for the muscle aspect of the task, shackles and ropes, and one lucky soul gets to don a pair of waders to hook the Landrover up. You’ll be racing against the other teams for bragging rights in the pub later and there will be an instructor observing to make sure you don’t bollix it up too badly.
Self Drive:
Following a 15 minute instruction you will set out following the instructor around the specially constructed course incorporating water, hills and ruts that will have you bouncing all over the place.
‘Wow’ Time: Finally your group will get into the vehicle with an instructor driving where they will show you just how much punishment these rugged vehicles can handle.
Duration:
Allow 2½ - 3 hours for the event
