Putt from the Rough - Edinburgh

Stag Nights
EDINBURGH
The city of Edinburgh has an entire bag of tricks up her sleeve! The annual Edinburgh festival is just one of them. Being Scotland’s second largest city, and home to four universities, just imagine all the different activities available. Many stags chose to spend their stag weekends in Edinburgh and for very good reasons.

Transportation in Edinburgh:
Getting up to Edinburgh is less of a problem then one may at first think. It is easily accessible by boat, car, plane, train, or coach. The airport operates more than 40 airlines and serves over 100 destinations. Rail link travel can also be considered throughout most of the UK.

Once you get to Edinburgh, travel is just as simple. While traffic can be horrendous, it is not recommended that you drive during your Edinburgh stag weekend. Instead it is recommended that you walk or rent bicycles. This would be the two easiest ways to get around during your Edinburgh stag nights. However, your stag party does not wish to walk or ride bikes, there are other modes of transportation available. Taxis can be taken for a fee, as well as the public bus system. You can purchase a day pass for the bus that will allow you unlimited rides that day. With a taxi, you pay per ride no matter what.

Edinburgh Daytime Activities:
While nighttime is a pretty big part of all stag weekends, daytime activities can be almost important to the success of the party. During Edinburgh stag weekends, there are numerous daytime activities available to participate in. Some of these activities include:

• Visiting Edinburgh Castle
• Taking a Ghost Tour
• Walk the length of Princes Street

In addition, during stag weekends in Edinburgh, many men choose to pay a visit to the Edinburgh Dungeon or enjoy the Edinburgh festival.

Nighttime Activities in Edinburgh:
Edinburgh has been known to get its second wind just as soon as the sun goes down. If you and your stag party are looking for neighborhood bars and pubs, they are a dime a dozen. But if your tastes are a little different, there are other sections of Edinburgh nightlife for you and your stag party to check out.

The nightlife in Edinburgh is commonly categorized into two general areas. The Cowgate consists on nightclubs that cater to the student population while George Street is home of some of the more raffish clubs. However, different kinds of pubs, clubs, nightclubs, and bars can be found sprinkled though out the entire city. There is a bar or pub out there to fit the desires of every stag party in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh was not always known to be a hot spot for stag weekends until more recent years. Now, more and more men are selecting Edinburgh stag weekends over every other location possible. The city offers daytime and nighttime activities that can enhance any stag do to be the best that it can possibly be. Having a stag weekend in Edinburgh is the right choice.

Overview:
Get your weekend off to the best start by booking into a flash apartment. Edinburgh is well known for having a roaring nightlife, from state-of-the-art clubs to cheap and friendly pubs with a long history of good quality live music.

From these serviced apartments you'll be within walking distance to the city centre or a very short taxi ride (if you share it between 3 or 4 people it will be less than a £1 each). Like the sound of that? We sure do!

Other Features:
Each apartment has a designer kitchen and dining area should you feel like cooking up a storm (or heating up a takeaway). There's digital television and wireless web access, so you can chill out on the sofa with a bag of crisps while you recover from a night of solid partying. Each apartment comfortably sleeps 5 people in the 2 twin bedrooms and making use of the double convertible sofabed in the spacious lounge.  A 6th person can be fitted in the lounge on a z-bed if required.

Breakfast:
Cereal, milk and bread for toasting are provided in each apartment.  There are a number of great cafes close by that do a great cooked breakfast for between £5-£9.

18 Holes of Golf

Overview:
Mark Twain might have thought that golf was ‘a good walk spoilt', but a round in Edinburgh would have had the American wordsmith eating humble pie.

There's no better way to relax than a round of golf so get the Pringle sweater out of the wardrobe, slip on your plus fours and head out onto the links for 9/18 holes. Whether you're a single figure handicapper or don't know a golf club from a nightclub you're bound to have a great time.

You can choose from some of the most popular golf courses in Edinburgh, including courses like Braid Hills Golf Course, with two of the most spectacular 18-holes in the city, and Silverknowes, which overlooks a fantastic River estuary on a Par 71 parkland course.

Whichever one you're feeling, you'll be more than catered for here. Scottish golf is good golf.

Format:
Just turn up and play - it's as simple as that. Tee times can be booked in advance so you won't be hanging around in the clubhouse for an eternity whilst the members jump the queue. Clubs and trolleys can be hired, you don't need a handicap to play and there is a relaxed dress code, so you won't be thrown off the course half way through your round if one of your group is wearing the wrong colour shirt. After you've sunk your final putt you can head back to the 19th hole for a well earned drink.

The Newsroom Bar Entry

Overview:
Every well put together weekend has to have that destination nightspot as the pinnacle for the groups’ celebrations. However, finding the right kind of bar and getting your group in can be notoriously tricky and can sometimes take the edge off an otherwise great weekend.

Well, we’ve tried, tested and reviewed all the bars worth visiting and can organise a guest list and priority entry, so it’s straight to the front of the queue for you and the boys.

The Club
This is primarily a very nice bar that has some great live DJ's on Friday and Saturday nights. Downstairs is set up as a chillout lounge that holds Karaoke on Fridays and an 80's Disco on Saturday's. It's open all day until 1am although we suggest you leave before midnight to miss the rush and to make sure you get a good spot at the next club.

Opening Hours
11am-1am

Dress Code
Smart Casual. Fancy dress is ok within reason.
