Budapest has a number of casinos if you fancy spending your stag night gambling before heading into the town. The best thing about the nightlife in Budapest is that it is different to virtually everywhere else in the world. You don’t need to spend your stag night crammed in a noisy bar, why not choose one of the beer gardens in the city? Popular drinking areas include Liszt Ferenc Square, St Stephens Square and the side of the River Danube. stag parties are sure to enjoy club A38 – a barge on the river featuring top DJs and awesome concerts. For a truly Hungarian experience visit one of the notorious borozo’s (wine pubs) for cheap Hungarian wine on tap! Just don’t expect to be doing much the next day…
Eating:
Budapest has many great places to eat and you will be spoiled for choice on your
stag weekend. We recommend avoiding the expensive tourist areas such as Vaci Utca and instead visiting restaurants with a few locals in. A popular choice is beside the River Danube where you can also eat onboard a barge if you wish.
Although the country has the usual fast food chains and Irish pubs serving food, stag parties in Budapest should definitely give Hungarian food a go. Goulash is the signature dish of Hungary and the Hungarian pastries are to die for! Asian-Hungarian fusion is also worth a try.
Weather:
Budapest enjoys around 2000 hours of sunshine a year and the summer months often branch out into an Indian summer lasting until October. Winters are unpredictable and can bring a lot of snow, although they can also be rather warm with highs of 15oc being recorded in January.
Currency:
The Hungarian forint is the main form of currency in Budapest, although Euros are accepted in some places (with a poor exchange rate). ATM machines are all over the city and Visa and MasterCards are widely accepted.
