Overview:
The second biggest national park in the UK, The Lake District is a great location for a stag weekend if you enjoy the outdoors and relaxing. If you are an adventurous type and want to have a good time, but also see the wonderful wonders of nature, you should definitely have a Lake District stag weekend! Full of exploration and interesting activities, The Lake District offers you a chance to have an adventure-packed stag do, and experience the wild, untouched nature first hand.
Transport:
Travelling to The Lake District is best done by car although rail travel is also an option with the nearest station being Windermere station. Once in The Lake District it is best to travel by foot or boat to truly experience the beauty of the place. A coastal railway also travels from The Lake District to rarely visited seaside villages if your stag party fancies a day trip to the coast.
Must See/Must Do:
There are a number of things to do on a stag weekend in The Lake District. A selection includes:
• Grasmere and Dove Cottage – visit the place where William Wordsworth is buried and Dove Cottage, where he lived from 1799 to 1808.
• Kendal – a great little market town, with lots of places to visit and see.
• Windermere – the largest lake in the UK with a lot of activities during the day including boat cruises and kayaking.
• Windermere Golf Club – an 18 hole golf course right in the heart of The Lake District – a stag party must!
History and Culture:
In a place like The Lake District, you can feel the history all around you. You will see what nature really is, how powerful and beautiful it can be, and you will develop feelings of great respect for all the things that are natural and unspoilt by human activities. The Lake District is also famous for William Wordsworth who lived and was buried here, and for the Lake Poets. A Lake District stag weekend will fulfil you physically as well as spiritually, and you will get a chance to experience new things and even feelings you never knew existed.
Nightlife:
A Lake District stag weekend would not be complete without visiting The Dog and Gun – a fantastic pub in Keswick that offers you a chance to enjoy some of the world’s finest beers, a great meal and a relaxing night by their famous fireplace. Carlisle is the place in The Lake District where you will experience the wildest parties, so be sure to visit some of its nightclubs and dance all night, with the option of getting really drunk with your mates – but this is always an option, isn’t it?
Drinking and Eating:
A Lake District stag weekend will be a total success when it comes to drinking and eating. Wherever you go, there are numerous places to eat a lot of different kinds of cuisine and to drink many different kinds of beverages. For example, you might want to try out some of the local beers, because they are said to be pretty good, or you can choose to visit a nightclub and get drunk on whisky or wine – it all depends on your stag party’s preferences. Wherever you choose to go, a great time is guaranteed and you will never regret the decision of a Lake District stag do. All in all, The Lake District might turn out to be the perfect location for the perfect stag weekend.
