You are not likely to get more than one chance at creating the perfect stag party - so do it right the first time! The city of Barcelona offers a hearty mix of food, drink, dancing and partying to allow you to bid your single life farewell in style. Barcelona is located on the northeast coast of Spain and dates back over 2,000 years. When Barcelona was selected to host the Olympic Games in 1992, an extensive program of construction and renovation took place and had the effect of changing the city in a way that is still felt today. It was from this point that Barcelona began to become known in its own right as a major tourist destination. Today, the mix of modern design and the feel of an incredibly old city, create an embracing mix that is truly irresistible.
Why Barcelona?
Your stag party locations are almost endless in the modern world, so what is it that sets the city of Barcelona apart? The answer, simply put, is an unforgettable experience at a reasonable price. Definitely costing less than a stag do in London, Barcelona's incredible mix of entertainment, nightlife and fun for both day and night will be something you remember for the rest of your life.
Activities:
If you are looking for an adventurous kick to your Barcelona stag weekend, you will be pleased with the city's choices. Go-karting, paintball and Rapid Inflatable Boats (RIBs) are only a few of the options available. Of course, bar crawls and vineyard tours are also plentiful for those seeking more typical - and beverage-based – stag do activities.
Nightlife:
Barcelona operates on a rather different schedule than you may be used to. You will rarely see people in Spain eat dinner before 9 o'clock, which means that the bar scene won't get moving until after 11 o'clock. Once the party begins, though, you will not find another one like it anywhere in the world! Your Barcelona stag do will never be boring, that is for certain.
A Note on Catalan Cuisine:
You will find a wide variety of incredible food options during your Barcelona stag weekend. Locally produced ham and sausage are not to be missed, nor is the abundance of world-class seafood. Another local specialty you will want to make sure you try as well is called "patatas bravas", a type of Spanish chips with spicy tomato sauce.
Drinking:
Whether you prefer one solid base of operations or a wide variety of drinking establishments, your Barcelona stag weekend will never run dry. Barcelona is famous for its local production of both beer and wine (make sure you try the Moritz and Estrella Damm lagers while you are in town) and you will have plenty to choose from during your stay.
Barcelona: Don't Miss!
If you only take in one sight during your Barcelona stag weekend, make it Place Espana's Fontana Magica. An incredible fountain display with accompanying lights and music show, it is sight not to be missed.
When it comes to unbelievable architecture, Barcelona contains more than its fair share. Snap pictures at the Sagrada Familia and La Pedrera so friends back home believe you. The Sagrada Familia, designed by architect Antoni Gaudi, is one of the most unique-looking cathedrals in the world. La Pedrera, also designed by Gaudi, is unique apartment building that appears to curve and flow around itself.
Getting Around:
Barcelona's metro is one of the best in the world and will likely be one of the best options for getting around. It runs 5 a.m. until 12 a.m. during the week but stays open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday nights. If you prefer, buses, taxis and trams are also good quality and available for your transportation needs.
Climate:
No matter when your Barcelona stag weekend is, you will rarely feel colder temperatures than about 7 degrees Celsius. The hottest temperatures of the year, which hit around August, will reach up to around 39 degrees Celsius.
