Quick Overview:
If you are looking for an exciting, foreign stag weekend, consider Amsterdam. Intriguing Amsterdam is the capital of the Netherlands and is known for its impressive hospitality, beautiful canals, fabulous shopping and stunning sightseeing. Amsterdam stag weekends are incredibly convenient since virtually everyone speaks English and are all quite friendly to outsiders. If you want a stag weekend that is exciting, unique and full of friendly and beautiful Dutch women, you don't look past Amsterdam.
Amsterdam in a Nutshell:
• This city is big on water! It’s perched on the river Amstel and has a complex canal system that criss-crosses the city.
• Amsterdam used to be one of the most economically crucial port towns in the western world.
• The population of Amsterdam is 730,000.
• The official language of the city is Dutch, but pretty much everyone speaks English. A lot of people also speak German and French, so if you remember any from school it could help you out.
• If you and your stag party friends are the creative types, look no further for all your artistic needs! Amsterdam has an abundance of art and culture. Head downtown and see what it has to offer.
Out on the Town:
When you and your buddies are enjoying your Amsterdam stag weekend, you’ll start to think the city was built for stag partying! Whether you want to enjoy the quiet canals or party it up in the downtown area, this city has something for everyone. If you and your friends like pubs (and who doesn’t) you will be especially happy in this big city. With so many pubs to choose from, a pub-crawl is called-for. If you are into dancing, bus over to the Red Light district and check out some of the trendy nightclubs. If you really want to feel snazzy, hit up one of the old casinos wearing your best tuxedo. No matter what you and your stag do crew end up doing, it should involved Heineken or Amstel – the best beer that the Netherlands has to offer.
Daytime Activities:
If you and your stag party are in need of some daytime excitement, Amsterdam boasts an almost endless list of adrenaline-pumping activities to keep you going all day long. Check out the 4x4 driving, clay pigeon shooting, karting or even indoor snowboarding. If your night out was full of too much excitement, you could always just relax in a trendy Dutch coffee shop with one of their finest herbal blends. The choice is yours!
Weather:
The winters are pretty chilly, the summers are pretty warm and the autumns are pretty rainy! If it’s July or August, be prepared to deal with temperatures in excess of +30° C.
Currency:
The old Dutch currency has been replaced by the Euro. The rate is approximately 1.45 but check before you go.
How far can my quid stretch?
Fairly well, a Big Mac will probably cost you just under €3, which is cheaper than London. Pretty much everything here is slightly cheaper than London.
Transport:
Amsterdam is more or less the cycling capital of Europe – at least that’s what you’ll think if you’re in the downtown area! If you don’t have a bike, don’t worry, Amsterdam has a very nice transit system that will be able to transport your stag do crew to all the hot spots. If your stag party is too cool for buses, you might want to consider renting a car or even a minibus.
