Overview:
If you are a lover of the navy with an avid interest in maritime history, Portsmouth is definitely the place to consider for a hen weekend with the girls. For those without an interest however, a Portsmouth Hen Party is still worth looking at due to the countless opportunities available for making the last weekend as a single girl a very delightful one.

Getting Around:
Movement within Portsmouth poses very little difficulty. For starters, the compact and well laid out plan and nature of the town makes it easy to explore on foot. Apart from walking round the town, there are more than enough buses that can convey your group to whatever destination you so desire and at affordable prices (you can travel all day on a bus for just about £4). Trains are also available to facilitate easy movement.

Must See/Must Do:
• Take a visit to the famous historic dockyard to view famous ships like the HMS Victory, the Mary Rose and the HMS Warrior (the first British iron-clad steamship).
• Participate in the Victorian Festival of Christmas, the largest event of its kind which takes place in the last week of November annually.
• Climb the Spinnaker Tower to get an aerial view of the city.
• The Blue Reef Aquarium which provides an exciting undersea safari is a must for a Portsmouth Hen Do.
• The Gunwharf Quays provide a titillating night time experience with your girlfriends.
• Explore the Renaissance Trail by taking strolls with the other girls for a relaxing walk.
• Southsea Castle and the Clarence Pier amusement park on the castle’s seafront.

History and Culture:
Portsmouth is the only island city in the United Kingdom and this maritime heritage is deeply entrenched in its history. It was a military port for several hundred years and it was here that Nelson launched the famous offense that resulted in the victory at the Battle of Trafalgar. The town survived two heavy bombings (WWI and WWII) and after these, several rebuilding and development efforts have resulted in an aesthetically pleasing sight suitable for your hen weekend.

Shopping:
A Portsmouth Hen Do would be incomplete without the opportunity for shopping and in Portsmouth, there are several options which will provide you and your group with your shopping needs. The city centre has most of the shopping area and you'll find outlets like Primark, Debenhams, Wilkinson and a host of other high street stores. You can also find bargains and antiques on Albert Road.

Nightlife:
Nightlife in Portsmouth is definitely not a dull experience. The Guildhall Walk serves as home to several bars and clubs and some of these include the Walkabout, Babylon, Vbar and Pure. Apart from these bars, you can also get creative by climbing the Spinnaker Tower with your group for a drink. For classier (and more expensive digs), check out the Gunwharf Quays for a slew of waterfront restaurants.

Eating and Drinking:
Whatever your taste—and purse—you are sure to find it in Portsmouth. There are several high class restaurants that boast sumptuous cuisine particularly in the Gunwharf Quays. For the more adventurous, Albert Street has tasty Indian foods. In fact relative to Portsmouth size, the restaurants and bars punch above their weight. All these guarantee an exciting Portsmouth Hen Weekend for your group.
