Nottingham hen parties

Nottingham has recently received a lot of press as the UK's prime den of iniquity from the "Ban all drinking or this country is going down the pan" brigade - much as a result of the fact that it was the first UK city to relax its drinking laws - leading to a city centre with the highest density of licensed premises in the country - and party loving crowds to match. Well, whether that is a good or a bad thing really depends on how you look at it, and either if you are out to have a good night on the town, or an angry Daily Mail reader who thinks the country is on a run away carriage to becoming Beelzebub’s playground.

Lively City at night, but oh so hilly, there are no flat areas when walking around.

Nottingham was A good location! Being only an hour or so away from the paint-ball made it a convenient location and there was plenty of bars and clubs at night of which are all very close together so the walking distance wan't of concern.

Overview:
Yearly, over 300,000 visitors come from all over the world to explore and enjoy the delights available in Nottingham—and it’s not just due to the legend of Robin Hood! Of course, Sherwood Forest is one of the major reasons for the influx, others abound and these provide a perfect setting for a hen weekend with the girls.

Getting Around:
Getting into and moving round the city poses no difficulty. Nottingham has been voted as the least car dependent city in the whole of England. The East Midlands Airport provides air travel to the city and it is just about 20 miles away. A thriving road and rail system is also available with the Skylink bus service connecting the airport to the city. The two major bus services, Trent Barton and Nottingham City Transport provide easy and cheap movement within the city.

Must See/Must Do:
• A visit to the famous Nottingham Castle for a glimpse and touch of the legendary Robin Hood statue.
• Unique Nottingham Hen Parties in the famous Sherwood Forest—relive the Hood lore by participating and competing in archery and other outdoor activities.
• Visit the Brewhouse Yard Museum to appreciate over 300 years of history.
• Tour the numerous cinemas in the city center such as the Broadway Cinema, Cineworld, The Corner House, Showcase Cinema and Screen World (the world’s smallest cinema with just 21 seats!)
• Take a hen weekend ride on the famous Ferris wheel in the old market square.
• Take your Nottingham Hen Do a notch higher by exploring the numerous tunnels of the myriad caves in the city.
• Take part in several musical events in the city ranging from classical music to rock concerts depending on your taste.
• Visit the numerous parks and gardens for a tour and a hen weekend picnic.

History and Culture:
Nottingham has a rich cultural heritage which has been well preserved in the myriad of museums detailing the historical footprints. Undoubtedly, one of the major pulls to the city is the legend of Robin Hood and his merry men and this has been responsible for a large percentage of tourism. During the industrial revolution, the city gained prominence for its lace making and bicycle manufacturing industries. Today, it thrives on several industries including the Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology sectors. Voted as one of the 10 cities to visit in 2010, a Nottingham Hen Party is sure to be a blast.

Shopping:
The two major centers in the city are the Westfield Broadmarsh and the Victoria Center. These provide a wide range of outlets for all your shopping needs and at affordable prices. Furthermore, there are a slew of designer shops including the original Paul Smith boutique. Departmental stores include John Lewis, Debenhams, and House of Fraser. Other shopping centers include the Flying Horse Walk and the Exchange Arcade.

Nightlife:
There is a bustling night scene in the city ranging from pubs, upscale bar, clubs, to restaurants. Lace Market is the place to be for trendier settings while Market Square has an array of pubs that cater to the younger crowd. Some of the clubs in the city include Social, NG1, and a host of others with a wide array of music options.

Eating & Drinking:
The city has several hundreds of restaurants making it possible to choose from a large pool for your hen do. The Alley Café provides vegetarian cuisine while Cock and Hoop provides a more liberal selection. The Michelin starred Sat Bains is also a must and lastly, the food and drink festival provides the best of wining and dining.
