History and Culture:
In the beginning of the 1700s spa waters were found at
Cheltenham. In the late 1700’s George III visited Cheltenham with his wife and it has since been popular as a resort for those that have great wealth. In the 20th Century the popularity of the spa began to decline. It has since been sought out by horse-racing enthusiasts because of the Gold Cup.
