General:
Many hen weekend planners are discovering some new and unique locations for their hen dos. Eastern European cities, such as Bratislava are being found to be fantastic locations to hold unforgettable hen weekends. Located in Slovakia, this Capital city provides natural beauty, amazing history, outstanding nightlife and fantastic food. Your hen do can’t help but enjoy the tasteful blend of the old with the new. The selection of restaurants and bars will provide your hen party with more than enough to keep them busy. After just a short time, your girls will discover why Eastern European locations are becoming so popular for hen weekends.

Important Facts:
Bratislava, a city of almost a half-million people, sits next to Hungary and Austria. It is located on the banks of one of the most beautiful rivers in the world, the “Danube”, and is less than an hour from Vienna. The cost of living is low in Bratislava, resulting in another big plus for your hen weekend. You will find dining and drinks to be very inexpensive, yet plentiful. If nicknames offer you any indication, Bratislava’s is “partyslava”.

Local Transportation:
While visiting Bratislava, it is recommended your hen do take time to walk through the city centre. It is compact, very easy to navigate. Busses, of course, are available with schedules that make getting where you want to go very convenient. Should your hen do decide to venture outside the central area, taxi service is available. Remember you and your hen do are visitors, so be sure to the meters are used.

Bratislava During the Day:
Granted, any respectable hen do puts shopping at the head of the “to do” list for daytime activity. With a population of over 450,000, it goes without saying your selection of shops and boutiques are more than adequate. However, Bratislava offers your hen do many more options. Gothic architecture is apparent through the beauty of the churches and castles. There is a National theater that stresses the love of culture in Bratislava with ballet and the theater. There are Street cafes for relaxation, and quiet bars to give you and your girls a bit of a lift.

The Nightlife:
The Bratislava nightlife is both diversified and vibrant. Your hen do will find a great selection of pubs, bars and clubs from which to choose. A good percentage of the action takes place in the “Old Town” section, offering packed clubs until the wee hours of the morning. It is always suggested a hen party sample local brewed ales and beers, some being the finest brewed anywhere. Bratislava is known for a locally made Brandy. The name of it is “Borovicka”, and is a Juniper Brandy. Your hen party will no doubt find it remarkable. Just keep in mind the alcohol content is about 60%.

Other Information:

The official currency is SKK, the Slovak Crown. Although rates of exchange will vary, the average rate is 60 SKK / British Pound.

There is no doubt Bratislava winters are cold, plenty of snow and ice. Summer season is hot, temperatures reaching 30 C.
