Tallinn took many people by surprise when tourists started flocking there in part thanks to Easyjet’s cheap flights, while people expected drab soviet concrete they in fact found fairytale castles, cobbled streets and medieval city walls not to mention a friendly population with a unique culture and good grasp of English. It’s now a firm favourite for stag and hen parties and those looking for a party in general.
Estonia is still one of the cheapest places to go in Europe for food, drink and accommodation, your money should go a long way therefore which is lucky as clubs stay open as late as 6am.
Food and Drink:
Vana Tallinn is the local liquer flavoured with spices and lemon with a flavour of rum, its between 40 and 50% volume but you wouldn’t know to taste it especially in a cocktail such as a ‘Hammer and sickle’ with Russian fizzy wine.
Local beers brands include Saku, though few others you will have heard of outside of Estonia they are still good though and cheap, imported spirits and wine are much more expensive so locals stick to be beer mainly.
Food in Tallinn is based around meat and potatoes usually, herring are plentiful in the Baltic so they are popular as well, if that doesn’t sound appetising though the best cuisine from around the world is readily available as well.
What to do during the day:
While on your hen party in Tallinn it is a beautiful city to just wonder round, possibly between bars or on a guided tour. The Medieval Old Town dates from the 15th to the 17th centuries, the Raekoda (Town hall dates from the 13th century and you can view it from the comfort of the many bars and cafes around the Raekoda Plats.
Nearby you can find some more adventurous activities if that’s what you fancy for your Tallinn Hen Party with 4x4 driving, quad biking, karting and clay pigeon shooting perhaps getting you into a competitive spirit that will continue when the evening comes and some drinking games begin.
What to do at night:
The nightlife in Tallinn is perfect for a hen party, plenty of nice young men with a great choice of clubs and bars all based around the old town meaning you won’t need to walk too far in heels and they are open right through the night meaning you can really get the most out of your Tallinn Hen Party. In the old town most bars and pubs will stay open until the last customers leave and you probably wont want to until midnight when the clubs really get going, go round a few bars and meet some people each have a different feel and different crowd so find one you like many are classy lounge bars such as Moskva and Lounge 8. When the time comes to go clubbing you have a good choice of clubs both large and small for your hen night.
