Although we wouldn't say Reading is the best stag or hen do destination in the country, we would say that Reading does have a hell of lot going for it. We would also recommend it over many other places, that may on the surface, seem a better options. So what has Reading got going for it? Its main plus point has to be its location. Being just outside London, it is perfect for those coming from the capital who don't want to travel far. Activity wise it is up there with the best, with regard to variety and quality: it has excellent watersports and multi activity centres, and along with top notch paintball and karting there are more unusual activities such as beer keg racing and sumo wrestling.

Reading was ok apart from the nightlife all shuts down at midnight it seems and resulting in going back to hotel for some late drinks but apart from that it was perfect.

Reading was a great location, everything in walking distance and if you needed to get a cab it was cheap as chips!

The location was great as it was only an hour's drive from home. Some of the girls came from other areas so it was a middle meeting point. The town had enough to do during the day with shopping and was within walking distance of the hotel

Great - other then a few minor problems Reading is packed with bars and activities and is a great location for a Stag.

Overview:
Only 40 miles form London, Reading is the ideal place for a hen weekend. The Reading music festival is one of the biggest in England.

Transportation:
From the moment your hen party steps off of the train they will be able to easily walk to some of the most amazing sites that Reading has to offer. If your hen party wants to travel further into the city during your hen weekend in Reading there is a great bus system at your disposal. It is possible for your hen party to get a group pass for up to four people for £7. You can hail a cab or hire a private car to drive you around. Private cars require you to agree to a price before travel commences as they are unmetered.

Attractions:
* Taking a river cruise along the Thames on your hen weekend in Reading is essential.
* Some of the biggest names in music come to the Reading Music Festival.
* There is a tour that will allow your hen party to travel through the many landmarks that can be found in Reading. The Pevensey and Hastings Castles are great examples of the landmarks that can be seen from the period of the Norman Conquest. .

History and Culture:
Henry I originally found Reading Abbey in 1121 as a center for affairs dealing with religion and commerce. During the 1890s Oscar Wilde jailed in Reading for being a homosexual. Now Reading is known as being a technological hub for young professionals.

Shopping:
Broad Street is a popular and convenient pedestrianised shopping street. If weather is not fair your hen do might shop at the Oracle Centre. It is a mall that is indoors so it is a great place to shop regardless of what the weather is like outside.

Nightlife:
There are many different pubs and bars that can be found in Reading. No matter if you are looking for dancing or lounging during your hen weekend in Reading there is a bar to accommodate. Friar Street has row after row of bars that serve any drink imaginable. The Hobgoblin is a well known pub because of its ciders and ales. If you are looking for a more eventful night your hen party may want to visit the After Dark Club. The entertainment that can be found in Reading is limitless.

Eating and drinking:
No matter what style of food your hen party is in the mood for it can be found near the center of Reading. There are restaurants to fit any mood. If your hen party has a desire to eat a traditional dish they may want to visit Sweeney & Todd’s for delicious pies baked daily. Forbury’s has great food at surprisingly affordable prices.
