An all time favourite and guaranteed to produce some hearty, tension-filled competition.  Guns are selected to suit all statures and professional instruction provided with the aim of ensuring that even the most novice marksman is hitting at least every second target by the end of the day.

Different traps allow the target ‘birds’ to be released in various flight patterns – across you, along the ground, away and up or straight down the barrel.  Following a practice to get used to techniques like tracking the clay and firing in front of it, hold your nerve in the competition and make the clutch shots.

Clay Pigeon Shooting:
Experience a Clay Pigeon Shooting competition at one of the top championship shooting grounds in the country. Each group of approximately 6 people will have their own fully CPSA qualified instructor, providing an exceptional level of training for novices. The instructors take pride in introducing novices to this exciting sport, with the aim of making you a top marksman by the end of the session (well able to hit the thing anyway). Licences are not needed – just wear suitable clothing for the time of year.

The Ground:
The shooting ground has hosted many competitions including Olympic events. It is the largest clay shooting ground in the Midlands and, with over 65 stands, is one of the best places to experience clay pigeon shooting in the country.

Session Overview:
The session will involve using several different types of trap. This affects the path, speed and direction of the clay as it flies to simulate the movement of different types of animal; from a duck dropping onto a pond, to bounding rabbits and cross flying pigeons.

Overview:
In the Bronze Age when a caveman spotted a woman he wanted to marry he would throw stones at her head until she was unconscious and then drag her back to his cave. When she awoke the man would cover her with an antelope fur and consummate the union. In the eyes of the law they were now man and wife.

Of course this often had its drawbacks and frequently the women would either die or become severely brain damaged and historians think this actually held back the evolution of the human race by several thousand years. Clay pigeon shooting is a direct descendant of this ancient ritual, but today the birds you're aiming at will be made of clay and you won't have to marry them afterwards.
