Overview:
Chester is a place with heritage dating back to Roman times. Originally, Chester was a fortress and port cit and nowadays it is simply one of the prettiest cities in the UK and a great one for your hen weekend.
Getting Around:
Most of Chester city centre is closed to public traffic during peak times of the day, which means the only ways to get around are walking or public transport. Luckily, a lot of the focal points of Chester are within walking distance and if they are not, then the trains and bus services in the area are reliable.
Must See/Must Do:
• Take a quiet cruise down the River Dee by renting out rowing boats or pedal boats.
• Take a trip to the local shopping centre and pick up some bargains.
• Visit history by going to the Cathedral of Chester.
• Get to know the town by taking a ride on the bus – an open top one.
History and Culture:
We all know that the Romans had great significance in developing both the historical and cultural aspect of the UK. In fact, a lot of people suggest that the Romans were gunning to make Chester the capital of the UK, but obviously failed. This is probably one of the reasons that the city is so popular and why people tend to sway towards having a Hen Do in Chester.
Because the city has great walls, it was protecting any people inside from invaders. This effectively made it a great place to camp out and the Romans soon set up their camp here. As an important port city for years to come, it was no wonder that the Romans saw the significance of Chester and why so many people choose it as the location for their hen parties. As the city of Chester has been occupied by Romans and Saxons, it has influences of both in its stunning architecture.
Shopping:
When it comes to having a great hen party, shopping is top of any hen party list. Chester's shopping facilities are extremely impressive. Better still, all of the shops are located in high quality old architecture, which makes the experience that much better.
Nightlife:
Chester is not necessarily known as the party town of the century but that being said, there are still plenty of great places to go out and have a great hen night. For something different, check out ChesterBoat's themed disco nights.
Eating & Drinking:
Chester has everything from restaurants with Michelin stars to good old pub grub. It's your choice.
