Though Bratislava might not have the same clubbing heritage as some European cities the rise of cheap air travel and the city’s cheap drinks have seen a nightlife in Bratislava grow up where people from across Europe seem to converge.
Overview:
Its not just the drinks that are cheap with a wine for about £1.20 and a cocktail for about £1.70, meals are cheap at about a fiver for a good quality main meal and accommodation is fairly cheap for something fairly good out of season or if you stay a little way out of the centre. This means you can get a lot more on a Hen Weekend in Bratislava than you might elsewhere.
Food and Drinks:
Get the drinking going early on your Bratislava Hen Do with a brewery tour at the Klastorny Leziak brewery or visit a local distillery if it is spirits your hens have a thirst for, Bratislavans local juniper Brandy Borovicka should be tried and at 60% you may want to get through a few of these. Cocktail bars are everywhere and have some great local favourites in terms of the cocktails and the cocktail waiters, these charmers can make you pretty much any cocktail you name or come up with a new creation for you. Head to some of the cities best cocktail bars for a real show as the waiters toss, juggle and catch just to make your hen party their drinks.
Pork Beef and Chicken is the main meat on offer in Slovakia and many of the local dishes contain dumplings and potatoes, stews are popular as well but this being a major European city there is of course all types of food from around Europe and the rest of the world.
What to do during the day:
You may expect Bratislava to be a bit blocky and dominated by communist era architecture but the centre of the city is historic with castles churches and gothic architecture aplenty.
Take a tour round the city walking if you can manage it, you could take a river cruise of course, maybe taking lunch and a few drinks along the way the Danube is Europe’s second longest river cutting through ten countries. In Bratislava you will also find the Slovak National Theatre which offers the best in Ballet Opera and Theatre which may be a nice calm way to start your Hen Night in Bratislava before getting into the nightlife itself.
What to do at night:
Start your Hen Night in Bratislava’s pubs and cafes and get a good meal to keep you going, many bigger bars are situated in courtyards of little back roads so go exploring, the more out of the way a place is the cheaper it is often, the main streets are often packed with tourists and lack atmosphere as well whereas some more setback places also have more atmosphere and uniqueness.
The Slang Pub is a popular place to go early in the evening and a good chance for your hen party to meet up with some locals or other tourists and find out what’s on that night.
When it comes to clubbing Circus Barok, a boat on the Danube has an atmosphere that will suck you in and then keep you going all night. Or if you want something more trendy for your Hen Party in Bratislava try the Trafo Club for hip hop and dance or head to Subclub a club in a Nuclear Bunker and a unique experience to make your hen night one to remember.
