You may think Berlin’s turbulent history may leave it feeling slightly downtrodden, maybe a little slow to re-emerge as a great city again? Well you would be wrong after all this is the capital of the most populous country in Europe a city of 3.4 million people in the heart of Europe.
Overview:
Berliners themselves make the most of being a free and united city and they certainly know how to party making it ideal for a hen party.
Berlin is busy all year round filled with locals and tourists alike. Because there’s no high or low season Berlin Hen Parties are ideal no matter when the bride is getting married and there’s music and bars to suit everyone’s tastes and men to suit everyone’s’ tastes as well as Berlin has become a cultural melting pot.
Food and Drink:
Germany is known for its beer and it really is great, try to have at least some and try a beer hall. Despite this German wines are great and very drinkable, mainly coming from the Rhine region they tend to be whites Liebfraumilch and Hock are inexpensive and great if you want to drink quite a quantity being sweet and rarely even a little bit dry.
Germany isn’t know for its culinary excellence but if you want traditional German food the choice of sausages you’ll find in Berlin is mind blowing and they have a great choice of how to have your potatoes as well, sauerkraut is basically pickled cabbage and is often served with dishes whether you want it or not so you may as well give it a go you may be surprised. Because Berlin is so culturally diverse though there is a huge choice of food styles from around the world so if anyone on you hen party is a fussy eater they should still be fine.
What to do during the Day:
Berlin is full of history some of it tragic but some of it inspiring. Capital of Prussia it has been an important city for centuries and the buildings that survived the war reflect this, nearby is Potsdam where you can see the palace of Fredrick the Great.
Berliners love shopping, German fashions sometimes seem to be a bit different and the colours they put together may seem a bit odd to someone from the UK but some of their clothes are just lovely and they have fashions from around the world with a huge choice.
Try to turn up for your Berlin Hen Do if you can during a festival, the Oberbaumbrucke Festuival in August sees art, dance and music events around the city.
What to do at Night:
For a real German experience on your Berlin Hen Weekend try a brewpub, a pub attached to an independent brewery often with a viewing platform or tours of the brewery itself. Next you’re your hen do along to Warshauer Strasse and the area nearby where there are plenty of pubs and bars, lots of locals meet here and there is a party atmosphere from early on, they are very friendly and tables ore often large and long sit down on any with free space and get chatting to the locals who usually have fairly good conversational English and can tell you what’s on and where to head next.
You may want to get along to a few cocktail bars for your hen party next, Berlin has plenty of them any most people will pop in for a couple before moving on to a club. In the centre or Mitte of Berlin you could try Tresor for some Techno. If you really want an exciting Berlin Hen Party though you could head to the KitKatClub. Owned by a pornographer almost anything goes here, expect to see lots of latex and other fetishwear, sex is allowed here in the club, though the focus is still on the music and dancing, it seems like the ultimate naughty hen party but of course isn’t for everyone.
