Barcelona is not just Spain’s top destination for partying but arguably the best in Europe, parts of it seem to have been built for it like the boardwalk along the beach. This is a real city, buzzing with life rather than built as a tacky tourist venue. The locals lead the partying with people flocking from across the globe to party in one of the most awe-inspiring and bohemian of cities ideal for a hen party then.
Locals and Culture:
The locals are proud, proud of their city, proud of its nightlife and proud of their Catalan culture in general, this guarantees that Barcelona in no way feels like any other city you’ve ever been to; the food the architecture and the people are all unique. They will give you a very warm welcome and considering that some of the guys here are verging on gods this is likely to be exactly what your hen party will be hoping for.
Cultural events are taking place all year round, the Carnival takes place in February bringing colour to the winter months, not that it ever gets really cold here, another carnival The Flamenco carnival runs from January to March each year celebrating Spanish and Catalan culture in general as well as this classic dance. If you are having your Hen Party in Barcelona in May then you could tie it in with the Sound Festival an open air music event with Rock, Indie and DJs. September day is Catalonia’s national day with parades and other events the atmosphere is even more lively than normal a great thing for your Barcelona Hen Do to be a part of.
See and Do:
Barcelona is known for its shopping almost as much as for its nightlife, the Spanish have as much if not more style than the Italians and some of the clothes from local designers are simply gorgeous, treat yourselves to new outfits for later.
Avoid some of the tourist traps though where quality can be poor, look out for shops with plenty of locals in.
Try some Flamenco on your Hen Weekend in Barcelona, either head to a Flamenco club to watch it done and then join in or take some lessons.
You can’t go far in Barcelona without seeing postcards and books about the works of Gaudi and no matter how into art and architecture you are you really should see his still not quite completed cathedral the Sagrada Familia. Parc Guell was also designed from him, a park with fantastic views of the city and built in a fantasy style that could be straight out of Alice in Wonderland.
The city is full of parks and squares though with plenty of bars and cafes lining them make sure your hen party find time to grab a table and some drinks and watch the beautiful city with its beautiful people go by.
Drinks & Food:
Though Barcelona is by the coast there’s much more than just great seafood and other traditional dishes include Sausage omelette and Serrano Hams, there’s a great choice though and it will all go done nicely with some local wines, plenty of Rjoja and maybe some Tempranillo, locals drinks lots of Rose as well though especially in the summer. They seem to like their cocktails too and there are some great cocktail bars around with some of the best cocktails waiters ready to serve up your favourite or make something new based on your hen party’s moods.
Nightlife by Area:
The Spanish take a siesta this means though that they can keep partying late into the night ideal for your Barcelona Hen Party where you will want to make the most of every minute.
Las Ramblas is the area everyone knows, the road itself heads down to the beach and is packed with bars and clubs including Tapas bars too good places to grab a bite and start drinking. Later though you may want to get along to the Gothic Quarter where some of the best clubs are including Sugar and Nevermind though Barcelona has about 200 others to choose from.
