There comes a point in every red-blooded male's driving experiences when you're coasting along the M25 at a steady rate, glance over at the rolling countryside and forests, and the little voice in your head says 'Do it! Go! Be Free!'. But then you realise that'd be silly, as your 1983 Skoda dumpster can hardly handle a speedbump, let alone the wilderness!
Get out into nature, and tear through it in a petrol-fuelled frenzy with a variety of hefty off-roaders! The vehicles can include 4x4 Landrovers, Quad Bikes, Powerturn Mayhem vehicles, Reverse Steer Jeep and Argo Cat 6x6.
You and your party will be divided into groups, you'll decide which of the vehicles you want to tackle, and after a short safety briefing, you're off! You'll get the chance to participate in 3 of the following activities, but bear in mind, the instructors will have the final say, dependent on weather conditions and your group size:
Reverse Steer Driving:
It's like Picasso tried his hand at being a mechanic! This converted Jeep provides one of the funniest activities you'll ever experience. Turn the steering wheel one way and the vehicle goes the other. Throw in a blindfold and a bumpy course and the results are hilarious!
4x4 Off Road Driving:
First, you'll be given a few pointers on how to control that iconic king of the desert - the Camel Trophy Landrover. Then, you get to try and navigate a course with lumps, bumps, gravity-defying inclines and a few streams for good measure!
Powerturn Mayhem Vehicle:
A twin seater kart, this unusual vehicle is powered by two powerful engines and is driven by two drivers at a time. The drivers must cooperate to get round the track without mistakes!
Drive 250cc Honda Fourtrax quads around a challenging obstacle course incorporating dips, slaloms, tight corners and limbo bars. Scores are awarded based on the driver’s skill and ability with penalties awarded if an obstacle is hit. Great competitive fun with the lads!
Argo Cat 6x6:
Six wheels, one driver and lots of fun. These amphibious all terrain vehicles are designed to go through mud, over hills and through swamps. Two levers control the steering to make these vehicles a true challenge.
Mud & Mayhem lasts for approximately 3 hours.
WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DAY
Gear up for an action packed day of motorised activities and adrenaline pumping shooting activities. This easily accessible and centrally based site extends over 300 acres. The Rivers Anchor and Sence flow through the heart of the site, providing excellent opportunities for all-terrain driving and a host of other activities. All we can do is recommend you don't wear anything white as it's bound to wind up another colour by the end of the day!
Off Road Kart Racing
Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines! Teams or individuals compete around a timed course to complete the circuit in the fastest possible time. The course follows a challenging series of turns and fast straights around a grass track. The karts are easy to drive as they have only an accelerator pedal and a brake pedal.
The high specification 400cc Gemini Liberator off road karts are ideally suited to all-terrain track racing. Using the very best components available, including Honda engines with electric start and with an adjustable seat to suit all sizes, they provide a comfortable ride.
Capable of speeds up to 40mph, the Gemini Liberator karts are the ultimate in off road karting. With the ability to travel over muddy fields, grass, sand and gravel, you can enjoy all the thrills of off road karting without going to a racetrack.
Quad biking is a demanding 1 ½ hour event done in teams of 4-6 people. The session commences with a safety briefing where riders are shown how to handle the quads and how to get the most out of the machines and a practice on the course. Teams or individuals compete around a timed course to complete the circuit in the fastest possible time. Riders alternate at regular intervals to make sure that all participants have equal race time on the course. With the team event, lap times are pooled to give the total team race time and overall positions, whilst individually lap times are averaged to find the winner.
