The karting grand prix is the staple diet of most stag do’s and group events – and for good reason. The grand prix events provide excellent value for money and never fail to entertain – however many times you have done it.  The venue has electronic lap timing to enhance each race and ramp up the competition element – if you fail to win the race you can always get as much satisfaction by setting the fastest lap time.

The Track:
This is the largest indoor track in York and comprises 300 meters of chicanes, hairpins, bends and straights.

The Race Format:
Practice Laps – 1 x 4 lap practice
Race Laps – 5 x 8 lap races (all drivers)
Semi-Final – 1 x 8 lap semi-final (all drivers)
Final – 1 x 6 lap final (fastest 6 drivers)

The Race Formats:
Mini eliminator (8 -16 drivers):
Qualifying laps – 5 laps
Race laps – 20 lap race
Finals – A & B finals 25 laps
Trophy for 1st in final.

Mini Grand Prix (12+ Drivers):
Practice laps – 5 mins.
Race laps – 3 x 6 lap heats (all drivers)
Finals – 1 x 10 laps for A final, other finals 8 laps.

A challenging 550m indoor track with a 90m straight, tunnels, a bridge and an underpass, this track is one of the biggest in the north of England. All karts are tested weekly to match them for speed so there can be no arguments over having a better kart!

The Race Format:
Endurance Race
The endurance race format is a team event (generally 2-3 to a team). The object is to cover the greatest number of laps in the allotted time.  Each driver spends approximately 25 minutes at the wheel (including 5 minutes practice), which means that in teams of three the race itself will be one hour long. All teams are on the track at the same time so overtaking, pit stops and strategy play a huge part in determining the eventual winner. A display screen near the pits keeps everyone up to date on the leaders and slowcoaches.

Race commentary is also provided throughout the day to give that extra special 'Grand Prix' atmosphere.

The Karts:
With a fleet of modern, race-prepared 160cc Honda karts that are serviced after every event, drivers can look forward to piloting themselves around a top circuit at speeds of up to 50mph.

The Track:
A 1260 metre rip-snorter of an outdoor track that features sharp hairpins, chicaines and long straights. Designed by professional race drivers, this track promises to push your skills to the limit!

Endurance Event:
After a full safety briefing and instruction, each driver is put into a team (maximum of 3 to a team) before heading out for a series of practice laps.  Next it’s time for a continuous team racing event where teams are responsible for arranging their own race strategy. Get the blood pumping as you arrange suitable timing for driver changes and refuelling stops - ensuring each driver spends as much time as possible on the track! The Endurance Event will be followed by an awards ceremony where the winning team will be presented with trophies.

The Grand Prix:
Upon arrival drivers are given a full safety briefing, including tips on kart control and racing lines. Each driver will then take part in a few practice laps to get them prepared. Then the fun starts: Drivers take part in 3 qualifying heats, each heat comprising of 5 laps. Up next is a 7 lap semi final that every driver will compete in. This is followed by a 10 lap final where only the fastest drivers will compete to determine the day’s driving champ.

Duration:
Each event is approximately 2 hours, depending on group size.

- A café serving light refreshments is located on-site.
- BBQ and Buffet catering available by prior arrangement for an extra cost.
- Minimum group size is 10.

Overview:
Budding Jenson Buttons can fulfil their need for speed with an afternoon's karting. Push your kart and driving skills to the limit without having to worry about the prospect of points on your licence. Put the pedal to the metal and go full throttle as there are no fines for speeding; it's positively encouraged!

Format:
On arrival you're be kitted out in race wear and given a full briefing by the circuit officials. You'll learn about racing lines, braking points and how to corner like Michael Schumacher. Once you've warmed the tyres and discussed tactics with your pit crew, it'll be race time. Prove your racing credentials and end those ‘Who's the best driver?' arguments once and for all.

The Race:
Drivers have 5 minutes of qualifying time and then a 25 minute race against each other.

The Kart:
The twin-engine karts have a full racing chassis, wraparound protection, slick tyres and include:
• Honda GX160 engines fitted with heavy duty wet clutches
• Hydraulic brake system with 8mm disc wiper groove
• High tensile 30mm race hollow rear axle
• Super heavy duty mono alloy wheels
• Centre mounted race fuel system
• Flipover pedal system
• Heavy duty deformable side pods
• High strength twin tube welded chassis

What's provided:
All safety equipment required, such as crash helmets, race gloves and overalls are provided.
