Overview:
If you combine the flexibility of Spiderman with the bravery of an SAS soldier, a climbing and abseiling session in a disused quarry will give you a chance to fulfil your adventurous urges.
Sandford Quarry has been desolate for 15 years and provides an excellent location for these physically and mentally challenging activities. You'll be kitted out in all of the the appropriate safety equipment and will get a detailed safety briefing from the instructors who'll give you the lowdown on the the best ways to avoid cracking your head open on a massive rock.
First you'll climb up the craggy quarry rockface guided by an instructor who'll be holding the the safety line. There are plenty of crags and crevices for you to cling onto as climb so you won't need the agility of a cat to make your way to the summit.
Once you've reached the top, there's only one way down- abseil. If you've got no head for heights you'll have to show courage in the face of adversity as you skim back down into the quarry attached only to a rope. Our top tips- concentrate on where you're putting your feet, don't look down and don't let go of the rope!
