Tallinn

Tallinn

Quick Overview:
The Estonian capital of Tallinn has got it all: jaw-dropping medieval buildings, a stack of brilliant outdoor activities, cracking nightlife, stunning women and booze so cheap that it will have even the skintest of individuals swimming in oceans of beer. In other words, Tallinn is the perfect spot for a blinding Stag weekend - all you have to do is pack your toothbrush and prepare to give the Stag an unforgettable final weekend of freedom!

In a Nutshell:
- Tallinn is the oldest capital city in northern Europe.

- The population of Tallinn is 401 821.
- The official language is Estonian. Russian, Finnish, English and German are also understood and widely spoken.
- The cost of booze and food is very low with Estonia being one of the cheapest countries in Europe.
- Tallinn is full to the brim with gorgeous ladies, so there certainly won't be a lack of eye candy!

Out on the Town:
Most nightlife activity is contained in the area in and around Tallinn's compact Old Town. Tallinn's bars and pubs are typically open until at least midnight on weeknights, a couple hours later on Friday and Saturday nights. The more popular Old Town pubs will stay open until the last client leaves. A pint of local brew - Saku Originaal and A. le Coq Premium are the two local favourites - usually runs between 25 and 35 kroon (£1 - £1.50). Nightclubs in Tallinn open their doors at 10 or 11pm, but they only really get going sometime after midnight. On Fridays and Saturdays clubs stay open until 4 or 6AM.

Daytime Activities:
From quad biking to KGB pistol shooting, Tallinn offers a massive amount of adrenaline charged activities to keep your stag party entertained. The standard Stag do crowd pleasers are all on offer here: 4x4 driving, Karting, Clay Pigeon Shooting and pretty much anything else you can think of. If you're after something a little more unique, Tallinn comes up trumps too: Witness a stripper while travelling about in a Hummer; organise for the Stag to be kidnapped and banged up in an old Russian jail or participate in a hair-raising parachute jump.

Weather:
The climate is characterised by a fairly cold winter, a cool spring, a moderately warm summer and a long and rainy autumn. However, some summers have weeks at a stretch of temperatures around +30° C, and a warm, sunny summer can keep autumn at bay until mid-October.

Currency:
The national currency is the Estonian kroon (EEK). £1 = 22EEK (approximate).

Transport:
Buses, trolleys and trams operate regularly. Make sure that you either have a valid ticket before getting on public transport or that you buy one from the driver immediately upon entering. If you need to buy a ticket, enter at the front door; tickets are only sold at stops, not while the vehicle is moving. Note that tickets bought from the driver are more expensive (15 EEK) than those bought at a newsstand (10 EEK).

Taxis can be also ordered by phone or hailed on the street. The price list for taxi services is determined by the taxi operator; that is, prices are not uniform for all taxis. In order to avoid misunderstandings, be sure that the approximate cost of the trip to your destination is clear in advance.
