The day normally kicks off with a short history of falconry over coffee to break the ice and then an introduction to the birds and a basic question and answer session.
 
Before any handling of the birds takes place, you will be fully briefed as to what the bird is likely to expect from you. You will then be instructed on how to approach the bird, how to pick it up off its perch, untying and retying the birds' leash with a falconer's knot and securing the bird safely on the fist.
 
After this initial lesson the hawks are then flown. Each individual is guaranteed to handle one of the birds and possibly even have the bird flown to and from their fist (in reality this usually happens several times).

Whilst we return the hawks and settle them on their perches etc, you are invited to a local pub for light lunch (not included in the cost of the day).
 
Dependant on the number of people in the party, you will be taught how to unhood the falcon, and even swing the lure as you may have seen in some show arenas when falcons are flown.  (With a bit of luck, one of your colleagues will manage to tie themselves up like a swingball!)
 
You will then travel out to the falcon flying venue where you will see and be involved in the training and fitness regime that is applied to the falcons. This is a truly unique experience as a Peregrine falcon stoops at the lure which you are in control of at over 100 mph!
