Driving and Problem Solving Team Building Afternoon

Overview:
Gear up for a brilliant afternoon with 2 driving activities and two team building activities at this stunning outdoor activity site. Located near the picturesque Wyboston Lakes, delegates can look forward to a series of fun and challenging activities that can be tailor made to suit the specific needs of your group.

4x4 Off Road Driving:
Drop in at the deep end and experience the adrenalin rush of top quality off-road 4X4 driving. Designed purely for fun, this activity will still manage to give the driver a true appreciation of a 4x4 vehicle's capabilities by means of simple and safe instruction. Generally two vehicles will be on the course at any one time (either a Toyota Landcruiser or Landrover). The course has numerous water features, side slides and steep inclines and declines. Discover what 4X4 vehicles are built for by pushing these impressive machines to their limits!

Quad Bikes:
The quads you will use are 125 Yamaha Breeze's fitted with automatic clutch and gearbox. After initial instruction on handling you will hit the course in groups of 2 or 3. The event will test your quad bike handling as you traverse over a bumpy and twisty circuit that stretches through woods and along the banks of a lake.

Team Building - please choose 2:
Mine Field:
The team need to analyse the task, plan the route and make the best use of the equipment available to build bridges to traverse the ever-widening spaces across the minefield. Strategic and critical thinking are vital and decision-making and trust within the team are needed to complete the task.

Fire Engine Challenge:
It's a time of emergency and the conscripts have to become an effective fire fighting team in a very short time. Using a genuine fire engine, it involves kit inspection and "hands on" equipment training, which is then put to the test when called out to an emergency. This task involves dealing with change and the ability to listen, develop and apply new skills when put under pressure in an unusual situation.

Soft Ground Crossing:
The team need to develop a plan to negotiate a course of obstacles and hazards to cross the unstable ground using a pair of skis and rope. Communication and collaboration are essential; leadership, perseverance and empathy are also skills which are highlighted within this task.

Blindfold Challenge:
Involves communication, trust, feedback and self-awareness. One person has to lead the team, which are blindfolded and attached to a piece of rope, around a tricky obstacle course without using the team member's names. Planning can take an important role in the success of task completion.

Sledge Build:
The team have to first plan the dynamics of the sledge. Two team members are blindfolded and act as husky dogs, requiring them to trust the team. The two ‘huskies' have to pull the remaining team members on the sledge through a challenging course, using the instructions given to them by the members on the sledge. Requires collaboration, perseverance, organising, planning, communication and problem solving.

Sheepherding:
All the team members are blindfolded as sheep, bar one, who is the shepherd. The shepherd is then required to round up his sheep and place them all in the pen avoiding obstacles using only a whistle. No speech is allowed once the sheep are blindfolded. Planning, organizing, decision-making and self-awareness are skills needed for this task.

Spider's Web:
Careful planning is essential as the team members are required to climb through the spider's web. Once a hole has been used it closes and cannot be used again by another team member. Requirements to completion without disrupting the spider include teamwork, communication, trust, problem solving and decision-making.

Egg Catapult:
This task involves careful planning, creativity, decision-making, problem solving and teamwork. The challenge is to design and build a catapult using only the equipment provided. The catapult must be able to propel a "live" egg the longest distance possible and be caught whole by one of the team.

Tent Build Challenge:
Change, communication, collaboration, self-awareness and critical thinking are needed because the teams practise erecting their tent, which, in the ensuing expedition is called upon when they are blinded by a sudden "snow storm". The team have to quickly build the tent and find safety inside.

Traffic Jam:
Team members have to solve the traffic jam when 4 cars on one side and 4 cars on the other side have to change positions but stay in the same order with only 1 space in which they can move. You can only move into any empty space immediately in front of you, or you may move around one person if that person is facing you and if there is an empty space directly behind that person. You are not allowed to move backwards, but can return to start at any time. Success is a hitch-less run through from start to finish. Critical and Lateral thinking are needed to complete the task, aided by communication and sharing ideas to solve the problem of the traffic jam.
Rope Square:
To complete this problem the team has to form the rope into a perfect square, the problem being that you are all blindfolded. Critical thinking, communication and organizing are vital for completion.

Sand Sculptures:
The team are required to build the most imaginative and creative sculpture using sand and additional items they can find from the site. Involves sharing and creating ideas, vision and communication.

Hands, Bums, Feet:
Team members are required to make a human chain over a set length of ground using only the specified number of hands, bums and feet. Lateral thinking, organizing and problem solving are involved.

William Tell:
Cross Bow shooting with apples for targets! Experience a new skill and develop a technique. Tests hand/eye co-ordination and learning abilities.

Back to School Races:
Various races that you never thought you would do again! Includes the sack race, egg and spoon race and a three-legged race.

Puzzle Corner:
Various puzzles that require mental agility. Careful decision-making, critical and analytical thinking, teamwork and problem solving are all required to complete as many puzzles as possible in the time allocated. Includes; Traffic Jam, Hands Bums Feet, Giant Puzzle and Who Owns The Zebra.
