Overview:
Do you watch Paxman tearing a hapless politician to shreds on Newsnight and yearn to test your skills of interrogation? Do you wish that you could be a roving reporter stalking the streets for a hard-hitting story? Well here's your chance to step into the learned shoes of a top news hound and put together a 5 minute news reel.
This fun activity is informative, creative and competitive and everyone will come away with a new perspective on how a daily news bulletin is put together.
The Format:
Each group will divide into teams. Each team will be fully instructed on the fundamentals of a news shoot and each team will choose their roles, assigning a camera operator, sound operator, reporter and other roles.
They will research and write their report and shoot in a designated 'showroom'. All shoots must be completed in a single take and throughout the event the instructor will observe how each team works and award/deduct points accordingly. Every team will report on a different story and it can be shot in any style.
The Competition:
After each team has shot their story there will be prizes for 'best report', 'top cameraman', 'top newsreader' and 'top team'.
Teambuilding:
No news report can be successful without strong communication between team members, this event is thoroughly entertaining and will encourage clear and succinct communication and allow every member to learn a new skill.
Duration:
'We've got News for you' is approximately 3 hours in duration and can cater for a maximum of 60 people.
