Luton Rally Driving and Clay Pigeon Shooting

Event Overview:
This is probably one of the best value events involving rally driving in the country. You will get a chance to get behind the wheel of a full spec rally car and combine it with a clay pigeon shooting competition at a championship shooting ground.

Rally Driving:
This is a superb course for those who are looking for a really fun introduction to rally driving. At most rally schools, there is a heavy emphasis on learning basic’s in the classroom, where as most people want to just get out and have fun in the car. With this in mind the out of car instruction is cut to a minimum, and almost all instruction is done behind the wheel, with intercom headset communication with your professional co-driver. All the instructors are highly skilled, competent and internationally experienced to give you the best chance of learning as much as you want from the event.

The Cars:
Front and rear wheel drive, rally prepared MK4 Escort’s & Sierra Cosworth’s.

The Rally Stages:
The stages have a mix of surfaces, hairpins and sweeping corners which give drivers the opportunity to powerslide the cars around. There is a covered spectators viewing area and multiple photo opportunities. Each lap of the stage is approximately 1 mile in length.

The Event:
After meeting the staff and instructors, each participant will have a couple of familiarisation/demonstration runs with an instructor in a fully prepared rally car over a mix of loose and tarmac surface. You will then get behind the wheel with your instructor to learn handbrake turns and control slides etc. Each participant will have either a two and a three lap session behind the wheel, or one long five lap session.

Clay Pigeon Shooting:
This is a superb shooting range with all the facilities you would expect from a competition facility. You will be greeted with tea & coffee and bacon roll, prior to starting you event which you can develop from the options listed below. There are a wide range of guns available to suit all statures, and the instruction level is kept to 1 instructor for every 4-5 people to ensure that you have maximum tuition.

Location:
The is probably the best professional shooting ground in the east of England. With 4 separate sporting layouts, full undercover shooting stand, this site was used as the training ground for the 2000 Olympic Team. The site also boasts one of the few Helice target rings in the UK. The site has been superbly designed for all standards from complete beginner through to Olympic standard.

The Event:
You will be coached throughout the session, by an expert tutor who will advise you in all aspects of the sport, and hopefully turn you into an ‘pro’ by the end of the event (well at least hit the clay anyway!). A sporting layout will be designed for your group where you will shout a range of different types of trap. Each type of trap throws the clay in a different direction, speed and angle, to simulate different ‘game’, from bounding rabbits, through to diving duck and driven pheasant. The event is split down into two sections, where you will start off with a 25 clay instructed shoot. After you have hopefully learned the basics you will them enter a 25 clay competition with the rest of your group.

Included:
Each person will receive 50 clays and cartridges.

Facilities:
The site is a full equipped shooting ground, with its own club house, shop and onsite parking. Food ranging from English breakfast through to sandwiches and crisps is available from the club house.

Duration:
Approximately 4 hours
