Overview

Do you think you have what it takes to stand and pitch an idea in front of a panel of the most successful entrepreneurs in the country? This experience will test all core business attributes, such as delegation, commercial awareness, presentations skills and creativity. The venue is located in the same place as the original Dragons Den to give you a truly authentic experience.

Format

Choose a Challenge
Teams can choose from the following two briefs:

Challenge 1: To create an idea that will transform their business ready for a new 2014 business strategy.

Challenge 2: To create a fundraising campaign to raise money for charity.

The Dragon’s Counsel
Intimidating as the Dragon’s are, the team must remember that they’re also excellent business tycoons - a quality the team should make the most of! Therefore throughout the day, 1-2 of the team members at a time will be given the chance to meet with and discuss ideas with each of the Dragons.

The Pitch
VIP Den of Dragons is so much more than a traditional team building event. It will get employees communicating, decision making and working together to build relationships within the company but with an added twist.
So, what’s the twist? VIP Den of Dragons aims to ignite passion and spark creative thinking across the entire business. This means that every single member of the company will be given a chance to make their ideas count, with the unique opportunity to impress the most successful global business personalities and emerging entrepreneurs.
Employees are encouraged to take away from the event what they learn and translate their ideas into concepts they can utilise in future business strategies and tactics.

The Panel 


Guy Kawasaki is a special advisor to the Motorola business unit of Google. He is also the author of APE, What the Plus!, Enchantment, and nine other books. Previously, he was the chief evangelist of Apple. Kawasaki has a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from UCLA as well as an honorary doctorate from Babson College.


Michelle Mone is the co-owner of MJM International and creator of Ultimo, the UK’s leading designer lingerie brand. Listed as one of the top three female entrepreneurs in the UK and recognised by the Queen with an OBE honour for her contribution to the lingerie industry.


Will Butler-Adams is the CEO of Brompton Bicycles Ltd and the pioneer in a British industry. He has managed to take a startup company from a small cottage industry to a rapidly growing international brand. Will previously worked in the car industry and has greatly utilised the skills he obtained there to expand the Brompton business.


Alexander Ljung SoundCloud was founded in August 2007 by Alexander Ljung (CEO) and Eric Wahlforss (CTO). It was originally started in Sweden, but it moved to Berlin early doors to where it’s now headquartered. It was launched with the intention of allowing musicians to share recordings with each other, but it later transformed into a full publishing tool enabling musicians to distribute their music tracks.


Simon Calver has been the Chief Executive Officer of Mothercare plc since April 30, 2012. He has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of LOVEFiLM International, Ltd., which was acquired by Amazon in 2011. Mr. Calver has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Video Island Entertainment Ltd and as Chief Operating Officer at Education Media & Publishing Group International. He held leadership roles in both private growth companies and large multinationals including Worldwide Chief Operating Officer, President of Riverdeep, the interactive digital education and productivity software company, and General Manager and Vice President of Dell's UK and Ireland Consumer and Small Business operations.


Rand Fishkin is the CEO of Moz. He co-authored the Art of SEO from O'Reilly Media, co-founded Inbound.org, and was named on PSBJ's 40 Under 40 List and BusinessWeek's 30 Best Tech Entrepreneurs Under 30. Rand is an addict of all things content & social on the web, from his blog on entrepreneurship to Twitter, Google+, Facebook, LinkedIn, and FourSquare.


Will Critchlow co-founded Distilled in 2005 with Duncan Morris. Distilled provides online marketing services from offices in London, New York and Seattle, hosts the SearchLove conference series in the US and UK and produces the popular online training platform ‘DistilledU’.


Levi Roots is the founder of Reggae Reggae sauce. He was first spotted at the World Food Market by a BBC research and was invited to appear on the programme ‘Dragon’s Den’. Levi was able to win over two dragons in the den, Peter Jones and Richard Farleigh with his great pitch and product. The sauce is now on sale nationwide.


Heston Blumenthal has built his career and reputation on pushing the boundaries with his culinary creations. In 1995, Heston bought The Fat Duck restaurant after selling his house and borrowing money off his father. Ten years later, The Fat Duck was named ‘Best Restaurant in the World’. Following this, Heston has appeared on a number of Channel 4 cooking programmes and through his partnership with Waitrose, has launched a highly successful range of ready meals.


Katie Price is a new-age entrepreneur. She has managed to reach out and develop a number of markets and with great triumph. Katie has written a series of children's books, dabbled in the perfume market and the fashion market to create a ‘KP’ equestrian collection. She has also been voted 4th in Britain's Top Entrepreneur poll.


James Baddiley is the founder and CEO of Chillisauce. He first started Chillisauce from a bedroom back in 2002. With successful online marketing methods, James has expanded a small company to a well established bespoke travel and corporate service supplier. Chillisauce now send over 150,000 people away on activity based events every year.


Ken Livingstone, a public figure in the 1980s as leader of the Greater London Council (GLC) and the former Mayor of London. He organised a major upgrade of London’s transport system by introducing the congestion charge and Oyster card. His transport policies then further expanded through the creation of mandatory bus and cycling lanes. And to top it off, Ken also initiated London’s winning bid to host the 2012 Summer Olympics.


Ted Nash is a young and ambitious internet and mobile media entrepreneur. In 2010, Ted launched ‘Little Gossip’, a controversial website that received coverage from BBC Panorama and BBC Radio. To highlight the sites phenomenal growth in a very short time frame, it received 33,000 hits within its first hour of launching. Nash has unsurprisingly built up a reputation for being a viral hitmaker, with further success from popular games that are in high demand and available on the App Store.


Caprice is an American-born businesswoman, model, actress and television personality. Now her life revolves around running and fully financing her own By Caprice products which include lingerie, swimwear, nightwear and bedding. In the past she has been the face of Diet Coke and Pantene. She was also voted GQ's Woman of the year for three years running.


Gary Lineker is an English footballer who holds England's record for goals scored in FIFA World Cup finals, with ten. After retiring from the game Gary turned to television and became a sports broadcaster and has worked with the BBC, Al Jazeera Sports and Eredivisie Live. His popularity has enabled him to appear in a series of commercials for Walkers and has been fronting these adverts since 1995, making this one of the longest-running advertising campaigns ever. In 2013 gary began working for NBC Sports Network as part of their Premier League coverage, and continues to contribute to the US version of Match of the Day.


Nadine Dereza is a highly experienced business presenter and conference facilitator, an award winning journalist, an accomplished interviewer and a voice over artist.Off-camera, Nadine Dereza as a non-executive director of WorldSkills London, bringing together young people from across the globe to compete in vocational skills.


Laban Roomes In 2007 Laban Roomes launched Gold Genie, a company that provides a bespoke service that will goldplate your belongings. Since appearing on Dragon's Den and receiving investment from James Caan, Laban is one of the biggest business moguls in the gold plating industry.


Richard Blakesley & Chris Barnado In 2010 the twosome appeared on Dragon's Den wanting an investment of £200,000 for 10% of their business, 'The Wand Company.' Their idea 'Kymera' was the World's first real magic wand - a buttonless gesture based universal remote control. At the end of the pitch Duncan Bannatyne offered the money for a 30% share of the company and In its first year the company grossed one million pounds.


Denise Hutton Gosney is the founder and managing director of Razzamataz Theatre Schools, a part-time children’s theatre school franchise that achieved national prominence when she appeared on Dragons’ Den in 2007. After a confident and well-rehearsed pitch, Duncan Bannatyne offered her the full investment and the two set about expanding the business. There are now around 40 branches around the UK to date. Since the Den, Razzamataz has become one of the top five part-time theatre schools in the UK, according to The Stage newspaper. The classes consist of an hour of dance, drama and singing and the curriculum covers the whole of the performing arts, from classic West End musical theatre to commercial street dance and hip hop.


Thomasina Miers, a former Masterchef winner and now the founder of the Wahaca chain of Mexican street food restaurants, has led a highly successful career in food. Thomasina now has several cookery books to her name and has made two popular series of cookery programmes for Channel 4.



Celia Sawyer is a businesswoman, interior designer and a dealer on the Channel 4 programme, Four Rooms. As a dealer, Celia collects art, artefacts and collectables and has an extensive client base for which she sources rare and beautiful objects. Celia is also a property developer, has an extensive portfolio from London to Bardados.
