What they wanted
Every year Legoland kick off the new season with a team building event for all their staff to get them fired up for the busy months ahead. In 2006 the park's theme was'Heroes Wanted' so the event had to fit around this slogan. The activities had to be slightly competitive, encourage teams to work together and also had to be highly entertaining for a mixed group of over 100 people.
The event
We came up with a tailor-made package called'The Superhero Challenge' which took place at Bisham Abbey. We hired out the venue exclusively for the client and after morning refreshments the guests entered the Elizabethan conference room for a couple of hours of business presentations. These were followed by a hot buffet lunch in the Great Hall and afterwards the whole group was briefed by the event manager. All teams were given one'energy bar' for each member of the team, along with directions and tasks to follow to get to their first'zone'. Energy bars were lost for getting to the zones too early and missing tasks, but also for taking too long. If an energy bar was lost one team member temporarily'died' and had to go back to the Great Hall until they were rescued by a fellow team member with an extra energy bar! There were six zones where teams competed head to head on events such as Gladiator dual, Sumo wrestling, Chariot racing and the Memory zone. Four extra bars were awarded for a win. The top three teams with the most wins then had to enter a Magic zone to determine the overall winner. Everyone then headed to the bar for a well deserved drink and the prize-giving.

"I just wanted to let you know that the event went absolutely brilliantly on Friday! Even though the weather was awful, it kind of added to the fun (we all got soaked and really muddy) and Nathan had things really well set out and organised. Many people said it was the best season kick off event for several years and they really liked the venue. It meant that we have been able to re-energise everyone to get them set up for opening in ten days time!
