Crystal Maze
What they wanted
E.ON required a half day event for a new team of 20 employees. They were having
a high level team/ business review in the morning. Therefore, they wanted an
afternoon activity that would be quite laid back but still encourage relationship
building and motivate the staff for the coming months.
The event
To satisfy the client’s requirements for a fun based team building event, we
set up a Crystal Maze activity in the grounds of the Nottingham hotel where
the group were staying. The maze consisted of 3 zones (physical, mental &
skill) and within these zones there were 2 games. These included spiders web,
safe crack and snake pit. The group was split into teams, which rotated around
the 3 zones. Unlike in the cult TV series, all members of the team took part
in each activity, rather than nominating one team member.
The finale of the event saw the team that had collected the most crystals entering
a mock up of the Crystal Dome.
The feedback
The feedback illustrates that the event achieved the group’s objectives for
the day:
I thought the event was great and really enjoyed it – it was just what
we were looking for - something to help with team building but at the same time
to have a laugh.
I thought it was really well organised considering the obstacles were not
permanent fixtures. The tasks had a good variety not just only physical but
mental too, so there was something for everyone
I thought the day was really good for team building and everyone got a
prize, which was good.
I like the way they had pre-prepared so left us wondering what we will
be doing. The staff were very friendly.
I enjoyed the activities. It felt like it was a team building programme.
