What they wanted
At the end of a year long project involving 400 staff, Accenture required an event that would reward their employees for all the hard work. They were keen to have an afternoon event that would keep everyone both mentally & physically stimulated, followed by a themed gala dinner and an overnight stay.
The event
The sheer size of the group was the main consideration when putting ideas forward.
Having had experience of dealing with large groups, we suggested that a spy
themed Treasure Hunt event would be the most effective way to deal with such
large numbers. Leeds was selected as an ideal city to run the event, due to
it excellent transport links and high quality city centre hotels.
After a number of meetings, a suitable format & route was designed, including
lunch and pub stops. For the evening event, a masquerade ball was chosen as
a suitable theme.
On the day of event, 40 teams were briefed, handed information packs and disposable
cameras. They then headed out into Leeds city centre to undertake their spy
mission. Over the course of the afternoon the teams had to crack clues, meet
spies located in various parts of the city and take photos of opposing teams.
On their return to HQ, all the evidence was collected and scores collated.
The results were announced at the masquerade ball, which took place at the
Royal Armoury Hall. The room was themed with giant masquerade masks and all
attendees had their own masks. After the presentation, a local 4 piece band
provided entertainment until the early hours.
The feedback
The feedback, both during and after the event, illustrated what a success the
day had been. Comments included:
Thanks for your help on Friday. The event was a huge success!
The afternoon event was met with great enthusiasm and several people specifically
called out Debbie's (event manager) excitement. The band was exceptional and
the theming was perfect.
I thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon event. It gave everyone a chance to
see a lovely city and work together, whilst having fun. The ball , in particular
the band, were brilliant.
