Highland Games:
Why not inject a little Scottish flavour into your activity day with Highland Games activities where everyone gets the chance to participate in traditional Highland events and sports. Perfect for any group size We can add on complementary activities such as a pipe band, dog & duck trials and a craft fair to provide a truly memorable day. Highland games is as full day and consists of:
Tossing the Caber:
This traditional event sees participants lifting large (well, enormous) poles so that they stand perpendicular to their bodies with the sharp end pointing to the sky. The pole is then tossed in the air so that the sharp end ends up pointing into the ground.
Weight Over Bar:
This involves nothing but balance and brute strength and a whole lotta Scottish ‘know how'. Basically you have to swing a weight over your head and over a bar which is behind you and just don't forget to let go!
Highland Dancing:
Get all the bonnie lads and lassies of your group together for a good old fashioned ‘highland fling'. Teams will watch a short demonstration of highland dancing to the skirl of the bagpipes before they have to dance the steps themselves.
Welly Boot Hurling:
It may not fall in the ‘traditional' category quite yet but Welly boot hurling is nothing if not hilarious fun and a great addition to the other games. You may think it's easy to throw a wellie towards a target but it gets a whole lot harder if you need to score points for your team.
Haggis Malt Challenge:
Try your hand at throwing Scotland's national dish as close as you can to Scotland's favourite drink. The punter who gets closest to the bottle of malt wins the challenge and the bottle....whether they'll share it is a whole other story...
Tug O'War:
Whether you opt for the whole hog of highland games or the mini version, your day will conclude with a grand finale of ‘tug o'war' where everyone can have one last chance to prove themselves and get in there for some laughs.
Catering:
On arrival guests will be offered coffee tea, soft drinks and home baking and following the activities guests return to the farm where a BBQ will be served - with vegetarian options - in the farmhouse.
