Brighton Wine Branding Workshop

Overview:
Get your team's creative juices flowing with an interactive wine tasting challenge, involving teams competing in a series of marketing-based activities with the objective ‘to create the ultimate wine brand'.

Format:
The event starts with a wine tasting session and a crash course of the industry. Then each team is given a different bottle of wine (plus an extra couple of bottles, as tasting is enjoyable and essential!) where they'll need to assume the roles of a creative marketing department and develop the next top wine. The event concludes with each team presenting their wine and brand idea to a panel of wine experts, where they'll pick a winning team, awarding them with fun prizes.

Activities:
Teams will take part in the following tasks:

Introduction to Wine (20 minutes)
Teams will be given a brief overview on how to taste wine, value wine, and an insight into how wine is marketed (on and off trade).

Marketing Planning (45 minutes)
Each team is given a bottle of wine and a target market - the rest is up to them.

Mood Boards
Teams create mood boards for their wine, taking into consideration the customer/sales channel.

Tasting
They'll need to write tasting notes for the wine.

Identity
Create a brand name and a position in the market for their wine.

Advertising
Come up with an ad to communicate with the target market (e.g. poster, 20sec radio, beermats etc).

Pitching (30 minutes)
Teams present their wine and brand to the group and wine experts. Extra marks awarded for humour and creativity!
