OVERVIEW:
Swansea, with its Viking roots is a vibrant hub of culture and contemporary nightlife, situated in south-west Wales. There are loads of innovative visitor attractions to get stuck into, including surfing, caving –and of course – nightclubbing. You’ll be just a stone’s throw away from the Mumbles (yes, you heard right) and the picturesque Welsh coastline, the perfect setting for a stag party to remember!
GETTING AROUND:
Swansea itself is a bustling city centre, so there is a comprehensive transport network of buses that serve all areas of the city – however this bus service is fairly limited when heading towards the countryside. Other than that, the fares are reasonable, and the bus service in the town centre continues into the night, so there’s always a chance to get to the nightlife, no matter what time you get back from a day out!
MUST SEE/DO:
• Try a quad biking and high ropes expedition in the surrounding countryside!
• Go underground with a caving experience in nearby Neath!
• Dance the night away at the famous Oceana nightclub!
HISTORY:
Swansea is Wales’ second-largest city and has evolved rapidly in the past few years, seeing the city centre expand towards the sea in the form of the award-winning Marina area. There are loads of great shops and restaurants in the city centre, so you can expect to spend a few quid on souvenirs! The city has become a student hotspot in recent years, meaning a vibrant social scene with equally vibrant nightlife – perfect for any Swansea stag weekend!
NIGHTLIFE:
Being a city with a large student population, the nightlife in Swansea is very varied, with lots of choice of venue, music styles, and night-time activities! You have the choice of large clubs such as the ever-popular Oceana, or the three-roomed Escape club. There are over a dozen clubs in central Swansea so you’re spoilt for choice! Otherwise, there’s the legendary ‘Mumbles Mile’, which has an extensive selection of bars, perfect for a Swansea stag bar crawl weekender!
FOOD/RESTAURANTS:
There are over 90 places to eat in Swansea of an evening, so you’re going to be hard-pressed to choose what you’d like to eat of an evening! Sample the culinary delights of Patrick’s and Gallini’s (recently patronised by Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones, don’t you know!), or you could try one of the hugely popular Indian restaurants – and trust us, there’s a hell of a lot to choose from in that department! Overall, the food is good, the people are friendly, and that’s all you need for a meal to keep you all energised for a successful stag party!
