Ocean Yacht Racing Day - Southampton

Ocean Yacht Racing Day

Overview:
This is a superb action packed day. Unlike many other companies, we know that to ensure a day such as this is as enjoyable as possible; you must have a skipper that understands and fits in with the group. The skippers are all hand picked to suit the type of group and event.

The day is designed to get everyone involved in the sailing, from on deck duties, through to GPS navigation. The itinerary for the day involves, two stop-offs (Southampton’s Ocean Village and the famous sailing village of Cowes, Portsmouth and Hamble).

Itinerary
- arrive Ocean Village Southampton at 9.00am. Load gear on the boat
- Safety briefing, breakfast on board - set sail around 10:00 am.
- Sail training (helming, sails, navigation etc) and Solent cruise
- Stop for lunch in Cowes
- Race the boats back to Ocean Village

There are two types of yacht which are used for the event. The type of yacht used will depend upon the numbers in the group. Full details of each yacht type are detailed below.

Sigma 38 – for up to 7 crew:
The Sigma 38 was designed as a fast cruiser/racer and has been established as a successful one design class. The imaginative design provides ample accommodation. Below decks two spacious aft cabins and a fore cabin will comfortably sleep 6. For the larger crew 2 saloon berths and two 2 pilot berths mean that this boat will sleep up to 10 people. They are ideally suited for both inshore regattas and offshore racing as well as for fast, efficient cruising. Ideal boats for those who want to get to their chosen destination in good time.

Beneteau 40.7 – up to 9
The Beneteau 40.7 is a Bruce Farr design and is a fast cruiser/racer. There is both ample accommodation and a very spacious cockpit layout. Below decks two spacious aft cabins including comfortable pilot berths and a fore cabin will comfortably sleep 8. For the larger crew 2 saloon berths mean that this boat will sleep up to 10 people. The boats have performed well in racing and are offered for bare boat or skippered charter. They are ideal boats for corporate events. These yachts have extensive sail wardrobes to suit both cruising and racing and have earned a well-deserved reputation as strong offshore and inshore racing yachts.
