Newquay activity weekends

Over recent years Newquay has transformed itself from quiet family resort to party town extraordinaire. The pull of the sea and the superb activities that the beach offers drags a multitude of bright young things down to Newquay throughout the summer months, making Newquay an oustanding place for activity breaks and stag weekends. Picture yourself, chilled out after an exhilarating day of watersports or land-based activities, sipping on a cold drink in the sunset while watching bikini/short clad talent heading back from the beach. An hour later and you'll be out on the town, embracing Newquay's vibrant nightlife.

Newquay is one of my favourite places to go to in the UK, It has good beaches and is very clean. There are also lots of restaurants to have good food in with a good price.

Newquay is a great place, I think that April is probably not thebest time to go if you want to be outside all the time but definitely in the warmer months this place is the bees knees. Will definitely going back

Newquay is ok. A nice town but we found drinks to be very very expensive in some of the clubs. The town in all honesty probably spoiled by the sheer number of stag doo's however I appreciate we are part of the problem! All in all an ok venue, been to better, been to worse.

OVERVIEW:
Newquay has shot to a prestigious holiday spot status in the last few years, popular with students, stag nights, hen nights and surfers! The rough seas around Fistral beach make it a prime UK surfing spot. Venture further inland towards the centre of town, and you’ll be greeted by cosy little streets housing a multitude of pubs and bars – One of the highlights of the town’s entertainments is the regular Relentless festival of surfing and other extreme sports every year. If you’re feeling brave, and if the conditions are right – grab your surfboard and tackle the Cribbar – a mean, 20-foot-high legendary wave thrown up from a massive reef ½-mile offshore. (Warning: If you’re not an experienced big wave surfer – we wouldn’t recommend this)

GETTING AROUND:
Public transport in Newquay is fairly sparse, so we’d recommend using the local taxi services – the prices to and from venues in town are quite reasonable when split between a few people, and you’ll pretty much be able to get dropped door-to-door, unless your destination is in the pedestrianised area of the town centre.

MUST SEE/DO:
• Catch a live gig at the Sugar Lounge
• Visit the Walkabout bar on top of a massive cliff
• Chill out on Fistral beach – join a bonfire party at night!
• Try your hand at surfing the best waves in the UK!

HISTORY:
Newquay was originally a small fishing village that sprung up due to the natural protection offered by the bay, and since then has become the ‘Gateway to Cornwall’. In the last few years, thanks to the local university, a massive student population has re-energised the nightlife of the town, and you’d be hard-pressed to find anywhere else outside of London that offers such a diverse range of pubs, clubs and bars. Newquay stag weekends seem to have a habit of coming home extremely satisfied!

NIGHTLIFE:
Newquay’s student population just keeps growing, and it’s mainly due to this that the calibre of the nightlife has shot up in recent years – perfect for a Newquay stag weekend. There are many diverse bars that offer loads of drinks deals on the street – you can pick up a few bargains on a bar crawl around this town! The walkabout is definitely a sight to behold – set on the very edge of an immense cliff, the balcony hangs over a 50-foot drop to the cliffs below – if you suffer from vertigo, you might lose your lunch on this one! Another fantastic venue is the Sugar lounge, that plays host to loads of world-class DJs from diverse styles of music – coupled with relatively cheap entry fees, this one’s an all-round pleaser.  If it’s variety you’re looking for on your Newquay stag do, then this is definitely the place for you!

FOOD/RESTAURANTS:
Food in Newquay is a very pleasant experience – you can go and talk to the local fisherman who’ll be stocking the chip shops in the town centre, sample the local produce from the rural areas surrounding the town, or if you and the lads fancy a mega meal, there are plenty of International dishes available in the town centre, all within good proximity to the big clubs and bars. A nice little area for food is in the surfer complex on Fistral beach, which provides decent grub with a quality view of the surf.
